I listen to probably a majority of communist songs though I really like Lyubeh (related to the soviet union but not communist), IU, Gfriend, TWICE, (don't fucking judge me) miscellaneous klezmer bands, recently teresa teng, as well as various video game osts. (persona 4. yokai watch, etc.)

Almost nothing I listen to is communist lmao. The closest I come is punk, which is usually anarchist.

My top 5 artists (in no particular order) are Green Day, Silverstein, the Beatles, Taylor Swift and All Time Low.

Please enlighten me of what "lefty music" is?

[–] BartsBigBugBag@lemmy.tf 5 points 1 year ago

Communist, Anarchist, socialist music.

See: The Coup, Rage Against the Machine, Immortal Technique, etc.

Pretty much anything that doesn't have obscenely terrible lyrics (unless it's in a language I don't understand), or blatant pro-capitalist shite; I prefer fast-paced music so I typically increase the tempo. As you mentioned, many video games have really good soundtracks.

Lil Uzi Vert, Chief Keef, Swans, Black Flag, Bach, Frank Ocean (idk what he believes) are some notable ones

Black flag is generally leftist, with a lot anarchist themes. I mean, their name is black flag lol

I’ve never really felt the need to politically label my music

[–] BartsBigBugBag@lemmy.tf 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Then your music wouldn’t be what they’re referring to. Plenty of artists do though, such as The Coup, Rage Against the Machine, Woody Guthrie, Immortal Technique, etc.

Why would you choose to repeatedly listen to music that is purposefully against your political beliefs?

This post reeks overall like troll post but I appreciate your optimism

This is a year old post in a communist instance.

The poster is asking what non-political music people here listen to, because it's a given that everyone here listens to some amount of explicitly communist music.

This post was not fucking made for liberals.

Thanks for the context, only know what I know and I miss what I miss.

[–] MaxVoltage@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world -4 points 1 year ago

TIL some people think there is lefty music.

Oh I definitely recommend Rage Against The Machine. They'll be right up your alley.
