"Hui" is also the sound these westerners make when you inform them that Uighurs aren't the only Muslim group in China.
Imagine the sound the Westoids will make when you tell them that Hui Muslims declared Jihad against Japanese Fascism in WWII:
The Japanese attempted to justify their invasion to the Muslim Chinese by promises of liberation and self-determination. Chinese Muslims rejected that, and jihad (Islamic struggle) was declared to be obligatory and sacred for all Chinese Muslims against Japan.
...
A Chinese Muslim Imam, Hu Songshan, was instrumental in his support of the war. When Japan invaded China in 1937, Hu Songshan ordered for the Chinese flag to be saluted during morning prayer, along with an exhortation to nationalism. He invoked Qur'anic authority to urge sacrifice against Japan. A prayer was written by him in Arabic and Chinese for the defeat of the Japanese and the support of the Kuomintang Chinese government.[37] Hu Songshan also ordered for all Imams in Ningxia to preach Chinese nationalism. The Muslim General Ma Hongkui assisted him in that order by making nationalism required at every mosque.
If there's one thing westoids hate more than foreign countries, it's being reminded that their excuses for destroying foreign countries are identical to the ones the fascist powers of ww2 used.
Even videos of rural Xinjiang look like stellar commendations. If sinophobic westerners had any interest in coming to terms with reality they would not be the way they are.
Yup. And this isn't even Xinjiang, this is an entirely different part of China that i bet the vast majority of Westerners have never even heard of. They only know China through the propaganda their media feeds them.
The propaganda tells them that this is meaningless, because the Hui are can "model minority" that the CCP just keeps around for the aesthetics of diversity, while they genocide the Uyghurs.
The mental gymnastics never end.
I suppose it is a case of projection, since their own countries do it with minorities such as Asians.
On this topic, there is a book called The Karma of Brown Folk by Vijay Prashad which tackles how the myth of the model minority came about and how it is weaponised against minority groups like Black, Indigenous, etc. I haven't read the book yet but how these minority groups came to be in the imperial core is probably a factor. For example, Black Americans being descended from slaves while many Indian have to fulfill strict visa requirements to "prove their worth" to be let into the imperial core.
Pretty much on point.
