Calvin and Hobbes was basically the only newspaper comic that was any good and still holds up.
Calvin and Hobbes
Hello fellow Calvin and Hobbes fans!
About this community and how I post the comic strip… The comics are posted in chronological order on the day (usually) they were released. Posting them to match the release date adds a bit of fun and nostalgia to match the experience of reading them in the newspaper for first time. Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips. It really sucked when I missed a day. Only years later, when I got the books was I able to catch up on the missed strips.

I was partially to a few others, but C&H was really good the entire run. I think Bill was really smart to stop when he did.
I also love Beule by David Gilbert at Carlsen. It nearly always made me go aww and smile reading a strip of it in the newspaper.
That said, I can't recommend binge-reading it, it loses its charm that way.
Beule is the German name. I wasn't able to find out how it's called in any other language, even though it being published by Carlsen implies German is probably not the original language (I primarily associate Carlsen with Spirou/Gaston by Hergé, who is francophone Belgian, iirc)
Edit: it's -> its
I think it's called "Buckles" in English. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckles_(comics)
"Chiffon" in French.
I was so happy when I saw this community, thank you for creating it ☺️
Far Side ranks up there too.
