Get a load of this guy. Apparently, putting forward "beliefs and ideology" are against their code of conduct.

His comment about blocking lemmygrad don't seem that bad to me, it's getting a bit annoying seeing lost dotworlders thinking they're the first one to ever say "communism bad."

It’s to push their beliefs and ideology.

What the FUCK do these liberals think they are doing every day on social media?

[-] Addfwyn@lemmygrad.ml 55 points 1 year ago

Promoting the unbiased enlightened truth, OBVIOUSLY. Beliefs and ideology are what Others think.

[-] ksynwa@lemmygrad.ml 45 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Akshually sir/maam fighting Chinese authoritarianism online (read: racist hatemongering) is untethered from beliefs and ideology

[-] m532@lemmygrad.ml 55 points 1 year ago

When the Zuck's Threads was on the horizon, the .world admins were like: "We'll try federating with them" even though their users hated them for it.

Back then I thought they were just stupid, but now they revealed themselves as corporate bootlickers.

The West’s role in the world, through organizations such as NATO, the IMF, and the World Bank - among many others - are deeply harmful to the billions of people living both inside and outside of their imperial core.”

Citing this part as reason is pretty much complete mask off.

[-] ksynwa@lemmygrad.ml 54 points 1 year ago

The rhetoric and goal of Hexbar are clear based on their announcement: to “dismantle western propaganda” and "demolish organizations such as NATO” shows that Hexbar has no intention of "respecting the rules of the community instance in which they are posting/commenting.”

Noo not my precious NATO noooo

Absolute cowards. We're the ones who have to deal with their shitty le redditor user base all the time because they allow anyone to make an account, but have we ever considered defederating? Not even once.

[-] Shinhoshi@lemmygrad.ml 20 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

le redditor

Comrades, the Fr*nch have taken over our instance. That means we have no choice but to… communist revolution!

[-] 201dberg@lemmygrad.ml 14 points 1 year ago

Fascists gonna fascist. Are we really surprised libs would do any of this? It's their default play at this point.

[-] CriticalResist8@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 1 year ago

Oh I'm not surprised, but they need to know they're cowards.

[-] iridaniotter@lemmygrad.ml 49 points 1 year ago

Do not fear everyone - I have written a strongly worded comment denouncing the lemmy world administrators for being hypocritical and illogical.

[-] ImOnADiet@lemmygrad.ml 49 points 1 year ago

this is absolutely deranged, hexbear admins should have just federated and let hexbears go wild with PPB for a few hours before they got defederated ig, fuck us for not expecting liberals to be smarmy dorks am I right? also here's this post on the grad: https://lemmygrad.ml/post/1115723?scrollToComments=true might as well get your comments in before they decide to defed us too lol

[-] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml 25 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Ahahahahah look at this one out there in the wild

capitalist coping

[-] darkcalling@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 1 year ago

Be respectful. I know, I know they're liberals and it gets frustrating.

But our case won't be helped by harassing them and the issue is not one big site defederating from us, it's if we allow a handful of users to throw a shit-fit and harass them over it which they'll spread around as agit-prop against us to other instances to encourage them to defederate at which point we truly will be alone.

Maybe some people are fine with that but I can live with not posting on liberal instances, not dunking on their users and letting them have their political discussions without interjection if it means more instances I can generally interact with under one account. I don't think any of us here seriously think the situation will be improved by giving them cause. They'd still come here anyways goodness knows to interject their opinions so it's not like withholding posting on their platform and following their rules prevents you from being able to interact with liberals.

Just my opinion. Rather not get us locked out of the fediverse at the start by giving them any excuses. Yes they'll probably do it anyways as they'll manufacture or find one (just as reddit admins were fond of inventing new reasoning and rules to fit the occasion of needing to get rid of troublemakers) but let's try and force them to reach for a reason, not hand them one.

[-] ImOnADiet@lemmygrad.ml 32 points 1 year ago

? they already have enough material to make up a reason lol. If they want to get their feelings hurt because I called them deranged on lemmygrad they can go ahead. They're already throwing the idea forward to their users and I promise the ban is going to follow pretty quickly no matter what we do. I'm behaving pretty well on .world rn I think that's plenty

[-] SovereignState@lemmygrad.ml 32 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yeah, they don't really need any excuse whenever they've already manufactured an imaginary enemy out of us. Regardless of how, idk, normal and sane or whatever we all tend to be (because we're human fucking beings), to them we are

  1. warmongering Putin stans
  2. LGBTphobic (hilarious given our demographics)
  3. basically Nazis, maybe even worse
  4. Sinophiles and Islamophobes
  5. literal bots
  6. terrorists

on and on and on. Reading those comments is simply a sight. There is no conversation to be had.

The thing that bugs me the most is the admin worship. I'll be the first to say as a regular user here, any of you admins start doing silly shit I won't "respect your decision", I'll criticize your asses for it. I know you'll listen, though, because you're not petulant liberals who throw tantrums when presented with the mildest criticisms.

Dotworld really does seem to be becoming just like reddit. I thought the whole appeal was decentralization and community building, but I guess it's really just an ego-fluffing project.

[-] ImOnADiet@lemmygrad.ml 30 points 1 year ago

it's the concern trolling for me. Over, and over, I see things like "oh, they're saying they won't ban users for breaking other instances' rules!" but like... their admins literally never ban people who come try and troll us in here, and the 2 or 3 times I've pointed that out I get nothing but downvotes because they don't have a good response for that

[-] TheKanzler@lemmygrad.ml 26 points 1 year ago

Dotworld really does seem to be becoming just like reddit

They even have old.lemmy.world, which looks EXACTLY like old Reddit. They want to be Reddit so bad 💀

[-] CriticalResist8@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 1 year ago

holy shit i checked it out and 💀

[-] Shinhoshi@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 1 year ago

That one I actually appreciate though. Some of the other ones seem as bad as https://sh.reddit.com/

[-] redtea@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 1 year ago

I suspect that dot world is one tool in a larger plan to manage the decline of centralised social media to ensure that the capitalists still control online discourse. I can't otherwise think of an explanation for how Reddit allowed so many users to flock to a couple of instances. Previously, mentioning Lemmy on Reddit would be hidden from users if not outright deleted. Reddit did not tolerate the competition. Now they plan to defederate from one (soon to be two, no doubt) instances that started on Reddit but were kicked out for left-ist views. And after that they plan to federate with the corporate instances.

[-] AlbigensianGhoul@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 1 year ago

I wouldn't be surprised if dotworld specifically was administered by people related to Reddit Inc. The admins are generally very technically competent and it grew so fast with barely any technical difficulties that I wouldn't put it past them from being at least supported by some larger tech company.

I know it’s at the top of the homepage if you switch to all anyways, but other instances might interpret that as us brigading.

[-] ImOnADiet@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 1 year ago

yeah I don't really care, I'm expecting them to defederate us anyways now + I'm not linking directly to any comments or anything

[-] darkcalling@lemmygrad.ml 48 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It's unfortunate but not surprising to see the idea of federation falling apart at the first signs of divergence from western liberal heterodoxy. One I suppose problem with the idea of free association instead of a dictatorship (admins of centralized website) is that people are going to squabble. You're going to have de-federations over this and over drama between admin teams, accusations, counter-accusations, differences in opinion on slightly different matters.

The fediverse is a grand idea I'm just not sure our present society can work very well with it. People are going to end up needing a bunch of different accounts which is inconvenient and hurts adoption because of that inconvenience, the reason why FB and such remain big is the network effect, first mover advantage, etc, (something people doing these things pretend to care about now but will less as time goes on). That does bring us back to early internet forum culture at worst which is a step forward in some ways from what we had but meh.

We have to face we'll never have back what we had on gzd on reddit, a captive audience who couldn't help but see our stuff shoved in their faces by an algorithm while the admins were too busy deleting references to the fact spez gives awards to pedophiles and likes slavery to notice most goings on.

We can have our space full of Marxists and that's good enough for me. Lots of spam and liberals from Lemmy world coming here, to be honest I'm pretty sure we get 90% of the brigading from their side and they might get 10%. Though that's probably a bad term, it's 90% them seeing our posts and organically coming over in disorganized fashion to disagree and post stuff and 10% our users doing the same with their stuff. No malice or organized campaigns involved or needed.

[-] rostselmasch@lemmygrad.ml 42 points 1 year ago

They are turning fediverse into a echo-chamber thing

[-] ksynwa@lemmygrad.ml 36 points 1 year ago

Mastodon is already like that. Unless you are a specifc flavour of bloodthirsty radlib you are pushed to the fringes.

[-] QueerCommie@lemmygrad.ml 41 points 1 year ago

Remember, being unideological is when you believe whatever the US government wants you to because they are the fair and objective police of the world. Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten there is no alternative and we are at the end of history!

[-] redtea@lemmygrad.ml 38 points 1 year ago

"Their mods have asked their users to be nice to us and to follow our rules if they come here, but it still breaks our rules because we can't cope with facts that contradict our worldview. How dare they remind people that NATO is a murderous organisation?"

[-] CannotSleep420@lemmygrad.ml 37 points 1 year ago

There seems to be pushback from a non negligible number of .world accounts in the comments. If the dissenters aren't just Hexbear alts, this could really fracture their userbase.

[-] 201dberg@lemmygrad.ml 17 points 1 year ago

Maybe some of them are realizing liberalism is just fascism in disguise, and that disguise is starting to wear off.

[-] ReformOrDDRevolution@lemmygrad.ml 35 points 1 year ago

Smh the hexbearianistites can't catch a break

[-] CriticalResist8@lemmygrad.ml 23 points 1 year ago

I love how we now meme around the Hexbear demonym lol (it's all in good fun Hexcubs)

Question, could we create a com on lemmygrad that reposts Hexbear's hottest posts and thus have them potentially show up on world anyway? Just an honest, innocent question.

it’s getting a bit annoying seeing lost dotworlders thinking they’re the first one to ever say “communism bad.”

Don't feel annoyed about that.

Yes, all the .world anticommunists share a single brain cell.

Yes, their replies are infuriating.

But a part of the comment threads that are unseen are the spectators on the sideline. Even if some annoying liberal troll is being annoying and obtuse, by being honest you might win over someone who is just reading.

This is kinda how chapotraphouse and genzedong subreddits got big enough to warrant reddit logo admin intervention. Even in their heyday, if you went to the comments in a political post in a default subreddit you would always see they same dweebs with their tired talking points.

Regardless of these those subreddit grew until they became "problematic" for Reddit. Reality is just Marxist.
