Jeez, the comment section over there is poison.

Yikes. That was not an exaggeration huh

[–] Cheems@lemmy.world 21 points 1 year ago (2 children)

To the point where it seems brigaded. The amount of "for a game no one cares about" is insane.

There is definitely a small (and loud) group of people who are very angry this game exists. I assume, based on history, that they're nazis very angry about the presence of same-sex relationships and non-white (as well as gasp! Female characters) in this game. Be great if Valve actually policed its community, becauee this kind of bullshit really shouldn't be okay.

Yeah leading up to the release the steam discussions were full of trolls crying "woke" this or "woke" that. Pathetic really.

Still today the Steam Discussion on this game is full of these posts it's deeply worrying, but at least people are calling themselves out as bigots to be avoided

I'm actually surprised (and happy) that discussions here are positive. In my experience, gamers (at least those discussing on the web) are the worst audience : they're always angry, always complaining, only ever temporarily satisfied (which is kind of sad, given gaming is supposed to be about leisure and entertainment). I'm a developer and I've been offered several times to join the gaming industry, I always refused : it's an underpaid, overworked job (comparatively to other industries in programming) where your audience hates you.

But indeed, it certainly won't get any better in the era of political polarization.

Gaming communities online tend to be circle jerking echo chambers that either go full toxic shit-fit mode or full praise mode and shit on anyone with valid criticism. Very rarely do you find something in the middle. Something something misery and company and all that

Right lmao, like within the top ten played games on steam of all time and nope nobody cares about it.

[–] Hairyblue@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

That started with the "bear sex" viral Panel From Hell. Woke are LGBT people, minorities, women in positions of power, druids wearing bear form. And they are not having it in a game they are not playing. 😁

Steam forums are a fucking cesspool. Everyone just cries about gays and woke.

[–] Thebazilly@pathfinder.social 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That's every Steam community forum.

[–] HumbertTetere@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

It really is. I follow devs from other games, and they say they prefer Discord, they have their own forum to attend and some show up at reddit, but it's a third.

They don't have the motivation to put up with steam.

1.) It's rolled back for now, pending fixes.

2.) No mention of being able to change players in multi, yet, so we're still stuck with whomever joined first, no matter that it prevents Origin companions from joining... 🤢🤦🏼‍♂️

[–] Blaiz0r@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

More likely a patch 2 change

🥹🤦🏼‍♂️

I've been binging this game for like 8 hours a day—maybe the hotfix rollback is a sign I should take a break.

For sure still super happy about the game, regardless of the hotfix issue. The devs were clearly passionate about making an excellent, complete game with an incredible amount of player freedom, and a few mistakes shouldn't tarnish that!

[–] Hairyblue@kbin.social 7 points 1 year ago

I played with the patch this afternoon and luckily had no issues.

I am in bed now and then work tomorrow until late afternoon. I bet they have the update back up before I want to play again. Fingers crossed.

I tired to do a copy and paste of the fixes but the spoiler sections didn't copy over. So I'd read it from the link to be safe.

[–] JimmyMcGill@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Not a problem

Thanks for all the posts!! I must have missed hotfix 3 but good that we already have #4 l

Me and my gf are still in act 1 :)

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 4 points 1 year ago

The anders one seems like it wouldn't be a bug. Why would they stay if their leader is gone? Especially so if you killed him with Karlach and then left. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It works if you click on the spoilers first but the formatting will still need some work. Probably best to keep the spoilers out of clear text anyway though.
