Protesters disrupted Pelosi’s appearance in Seattle on Thursday to call for an end to Israel‘s assault on Palestine. Vocal demonstrators have also been appearing regularly at President Joe Biden’s events. Pelosi said that she would like the FBI to investigate whether Russia is financing these groups.

“I’ve been the recipient of their, shall we say, exuberance in this regard as recently as in Seattle on Thursday. Unfortunately, they want to disrupt our very exciting Democratic meeting there,” Pelosi told CNN’s Dana Bash on State of the Union. “They’re in front of my house all the time. So I have a feeling for what feelings they have, but we have to think about what we’re doing. And what we have to do is try to stop the suffering in Gaza. This is women and children, people who don’t have a place to go. So let’s address that.”

Pelosi continued, “But for them to call for a ceasefire is Mr. Putin’s message, Mr. Putin’s message. Make no mistake, this is directly connected to what he would like to see. Same thing with Ukraine. It’s about Putin’s message. I think some of these protesters are spontaneous and organic and sincere. Some, I think, are connected to Russia.”

Article is 3 months old. Just FYI if anyone thought it was about the most recent events.

I highly doubt most of the protestors have anything to do with being funded by outside groups, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of the dissent has been sponsored by foreign propaganda/influence efforts. Russia definitely wants Trump to be elected over Biden, and also will do anything they can to cause division here.

All you have to do, to see foreign influence is look at the counter-protesters.

Or both--Russia doesn't have to be on one side or the other of this issue, they have a vested interest in there being a fight so they're happily going to play both sides

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

I wasn’t talking about russia

[-] orbitz@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 months ago

Yes but of course they're capitalizing on this by stirring up both sides.

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

And Israel is stirring up their side. They’re just as bad as Russia

[-] orbitz@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 months ago

That conflict is very messy and I don't agree with Israel's overall actions, but as bad as Russia is a pretty high bar. Russia stirs up shit where it'll weaken anyone in the West. Israel definitely isn't the good guy in their conflict (don't think anyone but civilians are good there but that's another thing) but as bad as Russia? I don't think that. Though I'm regularly wrong so just my opinion.

and how many politicians have been bought off by Russia?

take a look at everyone whose received money for being pro-israel.

Further, Israel has a massive influence campaign of their own. The only real difference is most people have been convinced that Israel is “good” and we have an “Obligation” and stuff.

[-] orbitz@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 months ago

Apparently many European representatives (if the headlines are correct) and from the actions in the US the entire GOP party. But go ahead and shill for Russia. I also never said Israel is good, I was just saying Russia was seeing shit happen and stirred the fuck out of it.

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

yes. yes. I'm shilling for russia.

the entire premise is that they're as bad as... which implies I believe Russia is in fact bad. I'm an awesome shill!

[-] anticolonialist@lemmy.world -2 points 4 months ago

The only foreign propaganda coming out of these protests is from Israel

[-] zeppo@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

Seems pretty unlikely they'd be the only country involved.

And I want her investigated for insider trading

[-] JesusSon@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

And I want Nancy investigated for insider trading...unfortunately, that bag of dicks will probably get her wish before I get mine.

[-] Treczoks@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

To distract from Republicans taking Russian money, or what? Basically everything a Republican utters these days is projection of things they have done. Go figure what this means for MTG, or Trumps remark that Biden has defacated in the oval office...

[-] issastrayngewerldkbin@kbin.social 0 points 4 months ago

More deflection. How about we investigate her ties with Israel. Maybe this would explain why she's able to get away with her blatant insider trading practices. Its a mystery how she manages to stay in office.
