Hi everyone,

I'll be moving to Hangzhou, China in a little over a month to do a postdoc. Does anything know what VPN I should be using there? From a google search, it seems that people are recommending Express VPN but I get the impression that a lot of these recommendations were sponsored.

Thanks!

I use surfshark and I've been very pleased with it.

You need one that supports ShadowSocks. Nord, Surfshark, express vpn, windscribe all have it.

Regular OpenVPN maybe blocked. Surfshark which I've used in the past had "Stealth" mode which modifies packets so it's not blocked by GFW.

WindScribe has a single location plan for 2 dollar a month, maybe go for Hong Kong location?
