??? What does a fence post driver have to do with your age?

[–] BlueLineBae@midwest.social 61 points 5 months ago (3 children)

Well for some... It's a thing you put fireworks into....

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 28 points 5 months ago (2 children)

No, I'm pretty sure it's how SWAT get through doors

[–] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 14 points 5 months ago (1 children)

The tube looks hollow. SWAT would use a solid ram.

[–] simplejack@lemmy.world 11 points 5 months ago (2 children)

RAM makes police vehicles, but the Ford Police Interceptor tends to be more popular with SWAT.

I never thought to use one of these as a mortar tube, that's a brilliant idea.

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 9 points 5 months ago

And for a certain group of people, their houses get fucked with by cops using a variant of this.

[–] SzethFriendOfNimi@lemmy.world 11 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Exactly. Back breaking work but this is so much better than any other manual alternatives.

[–] CarterH739@lemmy.world 18 points 5 months ago (2 children)

We didn't have one of these. Instead, I got to crouch on the ground and hold the post with my hands while my father brought the front-end loader bucket down on it. Good times.

[–] SzethFriendOfNimi@lemmy.world 18 points 5 months ago

Ah yes, the “we’re young enough to have another kid” parenting method

That isn't a generational thing it's an urban/rural thing. A 5 year old from a farming community would know what that is. Also, if you fill them with concrete, you got yourself a hillbilly skeleton key.

[–] ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world 14 points 5 months ago (1 children)

That isn't a generational thing it's an urban/rural thing.

Yes, that is indeed the point of the shitpost.

[–] Colour_me_triggered@lemm.ee 10 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Didn't see what community it was on. Apologies.

[–] ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world 20 points 5 months ago (3 children)

No apologies needed. That's the fun of making these posts. Because people react as if I'm dumb. Which I am, of course.

[–] Colour_me_triggered@lemm.ee 9 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Well I'm hardly the one to point fingers. I have a first rate rural education you know.

'hillbilly skeleton key' I like that

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 9 points 5 months ago

Also, if you fill them with concrete, you got yourself a hillbilly skeleton key.

I assumed it was a police battering ram, tbh.

[–] Aolley@lemmy.world 80 points 5 months ago (3 children)

fuck all these 'tribalism' promotion posts, we should be finding ways to work together. Lisa, you're tearing me apart!

It's so satisfying to slide this thing forcefully onto your pole OVER and OVER again, slamming it against the base.

[–] Jackie_meaiii@lemmy.blahaj.zone 22 points 5 months ago (12 children)

This is the thing to get a pole in the ground. I used it to put up an electric fence around a pear orchard once

I don't think most gen alphas are tall enough to use a post driver effectively. I've got early model alphas and they are barely 5'4".

[–] bruhduh@lemmy.world 12 points 5 months ago (1 children)

That's one cool looking bong /jk

[–] ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world 12 points 5 months ago

Well it does make a BONG sound

[–] PhlubbaDubba@lemm.ee 11 points 5 months ago (1 children)

It looks like a potato gun

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 9 points 5 months ago

It is much less fun than that

[–] Xatolos@reddthat.com 10 points 5 months ago (1 children)

It's a police battering ram.
