When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” To this day, especially in times of “disaster,” I remember my mother’s words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers – so many caring people in this world

Thank you for this.

Good to see that there are still decent people left in Israel

[–] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 20 points 5 months ago (3 children)

The majority of Israel is decent. The prime minister is literally a criminal who has been protested for years before this conflict. He tries to override the constitution and take power away from Israel’s Supreme Court.

He’s cozied up with the religious extremists who keep him in power. The overwhelming majority of young Israelis want Bibi gone.

Maybe or maybe not... Somebody within Israel is committing war crimes and it aint genocide Bibi. It is regular citizens.

This issue is similar to Russia... At some point people will need to own actions of their criminal state.

Germans had to do it...

Well yes of course. It would be a very strange thing for you to take what I said as “all Israelis have good intentions it’s just Bibi doing everything”.

[–] Deceptichum@sh.itjust.works 12 points 5 months ago (1 children)

No.

The majority of Israel supports what’s happening in Palestine. They want their holy land for themselves and only themselves.

Just because they also dislike Bibi doesn’t matter there.

No that’s an extremist take. I’ve been there many times, have family and friends there. They’re all horrified by the civillian casualties and are out protesting.

No, that’s the actual take.

19% think the war has gone too far, 34% think it hasn’t gone far enough

And most protests in Israel are because the government isn’t freeing the hostages not because the government is committing genocide.

[–] Linkerbaan@lemmy.world 0 points 5 months ago

Liberally the majority of israelis support the Genocide in Gaza according to israeli polls.

The only thing the see as a counter argument is the hostages. They don't see Palestinians as humans.

Multiple sources have said that members of Israel’s security forces are tipping off far-right activists and settlers to the location of aid trucks. The relationship has been confirmed by a spokesperson from the main Israeli activist group behind the blockades and supported by messages from settlers’ internal chat groups reviewed by the Guardian, as well as accounts from witnesses and human rights activists.

The Israelis trying to help would have an easier job of it if the IDF didn't sabotage them at every turn.

[–] gedaliyah@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

Not the IDF. Get the facts right at least.

[–] PugJesus@kbin.social 27 points 5 months ago

Very brave people.

Best news for Friday evening, after a week of horrendous news.
