imagine in the 1930’s you could pump comics out like this for a living.
Comic Strips
Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
The rules are simple:
- The post can be a single image, an image gallery, or a link to a specific comic hosted on another site (the author's website, for instance).
- The comic must be a complete story.
- If it is an external link, it must be to a specific story, not to the root of the site.
- You may post comics from others or your own.
- If you are posting a comic of your own, a maximum of one per week is allowed (I know, your comics are great, but this rule helps avoid spam).
- The comic can be in any language, but if it's not in English, OP must include an English translation in the post's 'body' field (note: you don't need to select a specific language when posting a comic).
- Politeness.
- Adult content is not allowed. This community aims to be fun for people of all ages.

From the 1950s to the 2010s you could pump out sitcoms like this for a living. At least this particular comic makes it so blunt as to highlight the absurdity, and subverts the expectation a bit by having the stupid dad express some real human emotion.
I feel like a 30's dad wouldn't cry so much as repress his emotions and drink though.
Don't forget beating the wife and son! The "golden years" as it were.
1930s? That was like peak "Man of the House" era. The dumb dad trope wasn't a thing til later in the 1900s.
I read the 100 years ago today sub, 100%. Though it needs more tophat.
Oh :(
:'(
To be clear folks, this is an anti joke. Dissecting it is a waste of Fediverse storage space.
I'm dad...
Same :'(
Ha... ha. :(
If we ignore the wife being a cunt, I wouldnt let my dad try to fix a toaster. Things that run on Transformers with lower voltage is free game but anything with parts that runs directly on main power is going in the trash* or a proper repairman.
*by trash I mean recycling station.
I'd be more concerned about ripping into anything with a capacitor. Microwaves are absolutely off-limits if you don't know what you're doing.
I can hear the laugh track from here
Taking things full circle, in this one wife = bad
Damn, that one hit home way too close.
Dad's stupid what?
Dad's contraction of the words "dad" and "is" :)
Indeed it's.
Barely related, but I wish the English-speaking world would bring back 'tis and 'twas.
