He'll find any way to defund education. Why? Because a dictator always "loves the poorly educated." Why? Because they're easier to control.

Get with the program, folks. Everything is about control.

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Power. Control is a byproduct.

They want power.

[–] Coach@lemmy.world 16 points 4 months ago

They already have the power. Control/subjugation is harder. It takes manipulation and requires subjects to comply and not rise up.

The conservatives have already acquiesced to their "dear leader." It's the pesky liberals and progressives who have enough intelligence to know that what is happening is wrong. Get rid of that element and you have ultimate control.

Control = More Power

Also doesn't that open up to vouchers for Christian schools, which of course is a big bonus. I'm not from the States so fuzzy on how that side works exactly.

Edit,I do mean a bonus for the fanatical right that wants a Christian state, not a bonus for freedom.

Finding new ways to kill children.

[–] Ioughttamow@kbin.run 42 points 4 months ago

From fuckin kids to killin kids, a true conservative

[–] ChihuahuaOfDoom@lemmy.world 32 points 4 months ago

So like 90+%? More? Nearly all public schools for like 30+ years before this twat waffle was elected?

(Psst. The use of alternating caps means the person you're responding to is being sarcastic. They already know it's a thought-terminating cliche. They're calling out how hypocritical it would be to even try to use that argument.)

[–] TokenBoomer@lemmy.world -3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

“Let’s agree to disagree.”

[–] IzzyScissor@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Yes, that IS an example of another thought-terminating cliche. Good job!

[–] TokenBoomer@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

Thanks for being my hype man.

“It is, what it is.”

[–] Senseless@feddit.org 25 points 4 months ago

Kill them or raise them uneducated. That's how you secure more voters.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 21 points 4 months ago (1 children)

This country is so screwed if this guy gets into office. He's just vice-signaling to all the very worst elements in society.

[–] BoxerDevil@lemmy.world 7 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

I can't see him going down without a fight if he loses. We are fucked what ever the outcome this November

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

He already lost once while he was the president and we survived. He has much less power now. We're only fucked if he's handed it again.

[–] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

We survived?

Herman Cain has entered the chat...

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

"We" as in the US in general. If anything, covid deaths helped him lose.

[–] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

That the guy who told people to inject bleach is even in the race is ridiculous.

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

And that's not even close to the worst things he's ever done.

[–] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

What's really crazy is, no matter how bad he gets, his MAGoos will defend him.

Remember the G-8 Conference where the other leaders went for a stroll and Trump needed a mobility cart to keep up?

Someone online told me that was a power move that showed dominance, and not the whining of a toddler who needs a nap.

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

Cult of personality in action. I hope it fractures the GOP's base when he finally dies.

[–] carl_dungeon@lemmy.world 18 points 4 months ago

His hands really are fucking tiny, what a loser

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 17 points 4 months ago

sooo...basically all of them?

[–] ATDA@lemmy.world 17 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (3 children)

He... Literally helped expedite the research and roll out. Even if you like those words coming from his mouth you have to accept he's actively just saying words to lie to you...

[–] todd_bonzalez@lemm.ee 10 points 4 months ago

This is where I divide Republicans into two groups:

  • Evil people who believe that Republican lies will serve them in some way.
  • Stupid people who will believe the most outrageous lies.
[–] cultsuperstar@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

They will never accept that he lies to them. They just blindly accept anything he says.

[–] Kongar@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

100% - his administration is why Moderna’s Covid vaccine exists. His govt. funded the plants.

[–] FreddyDunningKruger@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

Oh, you mean Operation Warp Speed, which Trump announced on May 15, 2020 after 100k deaths in the US?

Did you know it was funded by the CARES act, which was introduced into the House by Democrat Joe Courtney on January 24, 2019? Yup, Democrats were introducing Coronavirus legislation over a year before Trump "Warp Speeded".

But Trump completely bungle testing, couldnt make sure medical personnel had access to protective gear, he continually lied about how serious the pandemic was and spewed misinformation about quack cures like hydroxychloroquine. At a time when America needed unity, Republicans divided it with anti-mask rhetoric, which they continue even today.

But yes, at least Trump signed the CARES Act bill. "Ta da"

Listen, I’m far from a Trump fan. And I don’t think he personally did anything productive ever personally. But facts are facts - his administration DID do a lot to help (or at least that was my personal experience). As one single example of many, I personally got help from warp speed White House / military folks to get me critical parts from the other side of the world in a little over a day. Asia to my doorstep, Friday end of day to Sunday morning. I thought I’d have to go to the port and pick it up - nope right to my damn hands. That one simple act literally got that vaccine into people about 2-3 weeks earlier.

It’s baffling - they did good things. Not all the good things, but good things nonetheless. And he was in a position to take credit for the whole thing, deserved or not and put a big feather in his cap. And then, all of a sudden, “vaccines are bad”. It’s like you can’t make this shit up. If he was smart he’d take that one thing and rile up his base with how amazing he is, and then get away with murder behind their backs. But instead he punches the gift horse in the mouth.

That’s how I know he’s not very smart.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 16 points 4 months ago

god the maga people are morons.

[–] Feliskatos@lemmy.world 16 points 4 months ago

When it first began, Trump underestimated COVID and spun it as under control.

[–] KillingTimeItself@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 4 months ago

so.... every school ever? Wait a minute this sounds like defunding the DOE but slightly different.
