Yeah, last week or two have been more aggressive overall

To me it seems the activity is declining, people just gave in to Reddit. It's a bit strange.
Yup.
In a few topics / threads I have noticed more nastiness (some of it thinly veiled as condescension). Even a little bit of it on beehaw. But, it's still not as bad as I remember on reddit. I have blocked some people and communities on lemmy, and that has helped clean up my feed.
No not really. Just that people seem to have lost the honey moon feeling and are comfortable with downvoting shit when those first few weeks it was like a taboo to do so. And I don't consider that rude.
I'm certainly feeling ruder, but that's me. I think this feels pretty similar to when I started a couple of months ago
It's just the human condition. Humans are just plain mean and I am one of them. Humans also can't get along anymore. Personally I blame the collapse of our society.
I don't think humans are so bad. You probably just focus on the idiots like Elon Musk and other public figures.
I'm over 40 and almost everyone I meet are really nice.
Not every human is like that, granted, but most are, especially online, and I am among that number. It's not a moral condemnation, it's just a fact.
Like Elon Musk is an idiot but it's really almost everyone else on Twitter I am talking about, for example. Most people are predictable, vicious, nasty, mean things and I don't like them or want to be around them. Their actions speak for themselves.
Yeah but I think it's because it's social media. People are very different on those platforms. Some are judging people, some are intentionally misunderstanding people, some just wants to argue, some wants to feel superior etc.
In real life people act a lot nicer, maybe because it's not socially acceptable to be like that in real life. On the other hand, if there would be a war-like situation, some people would turn nasty real fast. In wars, you see both the worst people and the best people.
I still think most people are good. But we notice every little insulting comment, so it seems like it's mostly bad on social media. Everyone who is quiet or don't react, we don't notice.
Social media is not a real representation of the world, and it's very important to keep reminding us of that. It's mostly young people too, and they can be cruel because of not much life experience yet.
