Surely the leopard won’t eat their faces

[–] Outsider9042@aussie.zone 23 points 4 months ago

Oh boy, there I go getting my face eaten again.

This is the comment I came here for.

  1. Definition of Marriage and Family: We support the definition of marriage as a God-ordained, legal, and moral covenant only between one biological man and one biological woman. Further, we support a traditional definition of family with only one biological man in the role of father and one biological woman in the role of mother. We are opposed to same-sex parenting, intentionally subjecting a child to the loss of their biological father or mother, and other non-traditional definitions of family.
  2. State Authority Over Marriage: We support withholding jurisdiction from the federal courts and nullifying federal Executive Branch rules, orders, regulations, or licensing requirements in cases involving family law, and especially any changes in the definition of marriage.
  3. Nullify Unconstitutional Ruling: We believe the Obergefell v. Hodges decision, overturning the Texas law prohibiting same-sex marriage in Texas, has no basis in the Constitution and should be nullified.

Texas GOP official 2024 platform

No duh every sane gay person disagrees. And I haven't even brought up their views on trans ppl.

You're supporting people who hate you and want you dead.

Getting booed off the beach should be the least of your worries.

Real “League of National German Jews” vibes.

In the 1930s? Yeah

I have zero sympathy for people who want to be secret bigots and are exposed for it. Our country is going to become overtly fascist in November in part due to these bastards.

[–] Instigate@aussie.zone 12 points 4 months ago (1 children)

While I agree with your sentiment, this isn’t an example of ‘secret’ bigots as the article outlines:

Like a lot of gay New Yorkers, Anthony Tolve and John McGuigan spent the final Sunday in June at the city’s massive Pride parade.

But unlike most other attendees, the two flew massive rainbow flags expressing their support for former President Donald Trump.

Mark Dorman, a retired schoolteacher from the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood, said he’s been practically blacklisted from his local gay bar, the Atlas Social Club, for his political affiliation. Dorman said he went public with his Trump love at the pub last summer, and he’s been feeling the anti-MAGA burn since.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago

Even better.

It's nice when the fascists are dumb enough to show their faces.

[–] st3ph3n@midwest.social 39 points 4 months ago

No shit, you dumb fucks.

[–] noxy@yiffit.net 31 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I knew a furry locally who was in a same sex relationship who one day just seemed to snap and have a whole political and religious meltdown, and vanished.

Came back recently and made contact, I hoped he worked his shit out, but nah, still as far right as they come. Transphobic, racist, antisemitic AND pro-israel like these dumb fucks somehow tend to be.

I wish I knew how this sort of thing happens. It's heartbreaking. But at the end of the day a nazi is a nazi regardless of their inner contradictions

[–] MindTraveller@lemmy.ca 6 points 4 months ago (1 children)

All pro israel people are antisemitic. Semite is just an old word for middle eastern people. Israel is a bunch of Europeans colonising the middle east and dropping bombs on semites.

[–] NoSpiritAnimal@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

They downvoted you for telling the truth about Polish Politician Benzion "Benjamin Netanyahu" Mileikowsky.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 29 points 4 months ago (2 children)

One of my friends is a MAGA gay. He is absolutely miserable and hates himself all just because he is gay and everyone around him except for me says its not okay. Its fucked up and I can't seem to pull him out of that headspace.

[–] noxy@yiffit.net 8 points 4 months ago (1 children)

How can you even consider someone like that a friend?

[–] protist@mander.xyz 22 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Personally, I think it's great that MAGA guy has a voice of reason in his life

[–] noxy@yiffit.net 16 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Since when does reason mean a damn to the average MAGA fuck, let alone a queer one who ought to know better?

I don't necessarily disagree with you though, hell I agonize about this very thing since I have definitely run up against MAGA and threeper queers. One of whom I cut off an entire friend group over because he was always in that group. Another I tried staying in contact with to try to be a voice of reason for, but I just couldn't take it at a certain point and had to cut the fucker off.

Hell I have the same general struggle with my fox news addicted father - I cut him off for years after he ranted about mask mandates within MONTHS of his own daughter spending a week in intensive care from severe asthma complications.

I dunno how to handle this shit and it really fucks me up.

[–] protist@mander.xyz 13 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I don't expect anyone to put up with it if they don't want to, but the power of human connection is much stronger than you're giving it credit for. Approaching someone from a place of nonjudgment and asking well-placed questions can really get some people thinking. Acting respectful and nonjudgmental is paramount to gaining respect and opening up the conversation to other possibilities.

I'm in no way implying this is going to work for any one specific person, especially your father, but it absolutely does work to moderate some people's beliefs.

[–] noxy@yiffit.net 10 points 4 months ago (1 children)

You're right

Just...it's such a mjndfuck to completely fabricate a veneer of nonjudgmental and respectful interaction with someone repeating the most vile of ideas

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

There's good in this world, Noxy, and its worth fightin' for.

On a serious note, when you grow up around Republicans. When they surround you every day. Well, people are a product of their environment a lot more than they realize. His environment happens to feed him Trump's lies without any of the bad stuff. He didn't like Project 2025 but denies anyone would go that far. And he doesn't just sit there spewing hate, he actually tells everyone to go vote no matter who they are voting for, he even reminds me to vote when the time gets close and he knows I'm a Democrat.

These are people, no matter how twisted they have become. We will never heal by shutting them out. We have to do something, and telling him its okay to be himself is better than doing nothing. I hate it, too. I just want my friend to be happy. But he won't be as long as he continues living where he is, and hanging out with bigots who tell him Trump is right and being gay is a sin.

[–] jadedwench@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Why are you telling him his behavior is acceptable? That is doing him a huge disservice, especially if you are his "friend". Call that shit out.

[–] iiGxC@slrpnk.net 23 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I think they tell him being gay is ok

[–] jadedwench@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

Ah! I must have misunderstood their comment. It sounded like they were gay, MAGA, and people hated him for his MAGA behavior. Gay is fabulous, raging asshole is not.

As a straight male I’d like to also say that these Trump-loving gays maga support is ruining my life too.

Snails for the salt party sounds like it would work out exactly how you'd expect.

[–] johny@feddit.org 13 points 4 months ago

Imagine being so racist that you’d rather loose all your connections to the community than at least pretend you’re not.

[–] Drivebyhaiku@lemmy.world 13 points 4 months ago

This article reminds me vibe wise a little of the whole "Trans people are responsible for the closing of gay/lesbian bars." thing. Like I am sorry, why is it my fault that my gay friends don't feel comfortable in the establishments where their trans partners and buddies are hassled, dissed and generally not allowed to go and just chill and just be? It's in the favor of the bar owners to invite more people in to spend money than to play games that shut people out. It's not like little forums online that will be there as long as somebody shows up. If brick and mortar locations don't make enough to keep the lights on they close.

If my buddies want me to wingman we're going to the trans inclusive places where we all feel safe and your bar withering isn't our problem. Good luck finding a MAGA friendly gay bar.
