Waiting for all the Maga folks to fall over each other in their rush to wish Biden well…

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 48 points 3 months ago (3 children)

Just had dinner with in-laws who were laughing and hoping he dies.

They can wish that I guess, but a state funeral "trumps" a failed assassination like 9 times out of 10. Kicking it in office of natural causes is some FDR shit.

I bet they would've been furious if you made a joke about Trumps mosquito bite

Yup. I saw a magabrain shortly after the shooting, and he was deathly serious like he just heard about the death of a relative: "did you hear about the shooting?"

Meanwhile, this same guy thought the hammering of Pelosi's husband was HILARIOUS.

[–] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 20 points 3 months ago

You should hold your breath, it probably won't be too long.

At this point you’re probably better off waiting for the newly approved ones to be rolled out in August or September. Your doctor or pharmacist could tell you for sure.

Just read a local article on getting it now and then again in the fall. Coworker had covid last week and said it was the worst she's felt in years. I'm signed up to get my 2023/24 vaccine tonight. https://captimes.com/news/health/covid-on-the-rise-in-dane-county-what-you-should-know/article_7f20f8e0-3fa6-11ef-bc9d-db5cc29b1bcd.html

[–] harrys_balzac@lemmy.dbzer0.com 34 points 3 months ago

I keep forgetting to get one. I work with a bunch of idiots so it really is vital.

[–] nondescripthandle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

New variant came on quick for me. One day I wasn't even sure if I was sick, next day couldn't record a temperature lower than 102 so I tested.

In b4 both candidates are dead before the election

[–] tacosanonymous@lemm.ee 31 points 3 months ago (1 children)
[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 13 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I don't wish either to die, but this really does seem like one of the better potential outcomes.

Biden, as an official act, declares it illegal for felons to be president. Biden then drops out of the next election.

Turning America off and back on again.

That may actually be the case, at this point I'm thinking about it in terms of Harris Vs. Vance

A black woman vs. a guy who openly admits to being a racist who hates Mexicans in his own fucking campaign ad - https://vxtwitter.com/JDVance1/status/1511311385543815180

I think my favorite part is this sob story about how his mother nearly died on the "poison Mexicans are bringing into this country!"

If you do a fact check, his mother was a nurse who raided the controlled substances locker to get high.

[–] Grass@sh.itjust.works 11 points 3 months ago

Man I thought they were already dead, one being paraded around as a string puppet, and the other with the innards replaced with a chuck e cheeze type animatronic with chatgpt or something controlling it.

I wish Him well, but man he need to be home with his family resting, like for the rest of his life.

[–] Leate_Wonceslace@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I think the fact that he's the incumbent is a bigger advantage than anyone aside from him can muster, but if he steps down as soon as the election is over that'd be good.

[–] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works 14 points 3 months ago (1 children)

A bait and switch like that would clobber any trust the Democratic party has built up and cost them for at least a decade

[–] Leate_Wonceslace@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 3 months ago (4 children)

I think that's a fair expectation, but I don't think they had much trust to begin with.

A lot less of an advantage when polling this badly in approval.

There's never been a president with this approval that won reelection.

[–] Nightwingdragon@lemmy.world 47 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Biden just said it would take a medical emergency to get him to drop. If this isn't a sign from that he needs to get out of the race, I don't know what is.

BAH GAWD THAT'S BERNIE'S MUSIC!!!

[–] Guy_Fieris_Hair@lemmy.world 28 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (3 children)

I fucking love Bernie, I donated, canvassed, made calls, drove hundreds of miles to go to rallies, have Bernie sticker on my vehicles in a violently republican town, but Bernies window has closed. He is too old now and he would say that himself.

I wouldn't argue too hard because he still seems to have his witts about him, and even a half sentient Bernie is exactly what this corrupt country needs, But this age trend needs to go the other way.

How about AOC....

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 16 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (2 children)

AOC, but how do we court the mythical moderate republican that's just waiting in the wings to elect a neo-lib once the opportunity arrives?

Edit: this is probably the reason the neolibs won't give up power. They are afraid to admit no one, and I mean no one, actually wants them around. Once they let the party change hands everyone will see the absolute juggernaut they are holding back.

I hope he's not planning to one-up Trump's "brush with death" and steal back sympathy by actually dying.

[–] chakan2@lemmy.world 15 points 3 months ago

That might work...have him try it.

It's okay, Maga says Covid isn't really a problem.

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world 36 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I'm watching NBC News live right now and they asked people on the floor of the RNC for their reaction about Biden having COVID. They all said they are praying for him and hope for a speedy recovery. I was waiting for just one "COVID ain't real! Fauci is a liar!" crazy person but there were none. Damn.

https://www.youtube.com/live/h0OIShWin3k

[–] SulaymanF@lemmy.world 17 points 3 months ago (1 children)

They know the media is on them and they have to behave and say “politically correct” things.

Make no mistake, the RNC and DNC are carefully managed events. RNC tries to show as racially diverse a crowd as possible for the cameras and DNC tries to be a welcoming big tent, both to encourage undecided voters to come join the bandwagon.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 9 points 3 months ago

and DNC tries to be a welcoming big tent,

As long as you agree 100% with the DNC...

They have a poor record with people protesting how rightwing the DNC has been moving for decades...

They had people out here supporting a mask ban and acting COVID doesn't exist because Corporate America said so.

Looks like all the people who said they would gladly vote for a rotting corpse in November are going to get the chance to put their money where their mouth is!

Ok, buddy, I think it's time

[–] Audacious@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 months ago

Hopefully he gets a speedy recovery. I really enjoyed his speech in Detroit he had recently. Biggest surprise was the enthusiasm of the crowd, which was more wild than the trump ones I have seen. Also I loved when he showed humility, an extremely rare thing to show as a leader. Republicans probably only saw weakness, not bravery and kindness in his heart.
