Wow the Seine might be dirty and unhygienic. That seems completely out of left field. No way to have seen this coming.
After reading several headlines about the poor water quality over the last 6-12 months, this one is perfection — chef's kiss.
I wonder if people did commit to pooping on it out of spite for it only being cleaned for the Olympics.
Next thing you know they'll cancel the swimming events they scheduled inside an active volcano
That they didn’t have a backup route is baffling. They’ve been testing the levels for months and they had to have known they weren’t going to be at safe levels in time. I commend the ecological work to clean the river but you shouldn’t punish these athletes because your waterway is gross.
The olympic Surf competition is happening on the other side of the World in Tahiti. Are you telling me France does not have a backup lake to do this in anywhere? After 6 years of planning? Do it in lake Geneva or Étang de Berre...jfc
The whole point of a triathlon is to run, bike, and swim. It won't be easy moving it elsewhere and closing the roadways, setting up security, and shuttling participants and staff on short notice.
Hopefully they have a Plan B.
Their plan B last time I heard was to make it a ~~biathlon~~ duathlon without swimming...which is just a joke.
Isn't that called a duathlon to distinguish it from the winter Olympic event?
The one that’s all… ski ski, pew pew pew, ski ski ski? How did that one get started…
You see, there was this Norwegian hunter with an AMD processor who liked both men and women..
Never underestimate the commitment of the French people.
They didn't check this beforehand?
They did a whole thing on TV where the mayor swam in the water.
Did ~~he~~ she actually do that? I heard there was an app to tell people along its route exactly when to shit in it so it would make it to Paris around the time ~~he~~ she was swimming.
Edit: my bad. Apparently the mayor is a woman.
Mayor is a woman, I saw a clip of it while my parent were watching the news.
Yea, it was fine, but then there was a major rogue summer storm during the inauguration 🤣 right over Paris.
which washed all the shit into la Seine and...well...it's shitty again. Literally yelling at a cloud for ruining it.
Nice
That's (not) in-Seine.
This months cover of "Called It!" magazine 🙄😮💨

Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:

The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.

Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.
