Its so fucked that you have to give up the live translation feature to get the new shit. I use that all the time with relatives that don't speak English.

I switched from google to apple a few years ago and one of the things I had a hard time giving up was the voice assistant. I a spend a lot of time on the road locally for service work and I leaned pretty heavily on voice assistant for texting, calling, directions, scheduling appts etc. It wasn’t the best, but it worked for what I need.
Now I have to repeat instructions, only to be told ‘I can’t do that’ or ‘I can’t do that while driving’ or some other bullshit. I spend more time cursing at Siri than getting anything useful from it. Compared to Siri, Google Assitant was wonderful.
At least now it’ll suck equally.

I kept getting a prompt on my phone to change to Gemini from google assistant, after repeatedly telling it to fuck off it seems to have disappeared. for now.
