Ergonomic, split and other weird keyboards

Rules

Keep it ergo

Posts must be of/about keyboards that have a clear delineation between the left and right halves of the keyboard, column stagger, or both. This includes one-handed (one half doesn't exist, what clearer delineation is that!?)

i.e. no regular non-split¹ row-stagger and no non-split¹ ortholinear²

¹ split meaning a separation of the halves, whether fixed in place or entirely separate, both are fine.
² ortholinear meaning keys layed out in a grid

Browsing the web and arrived to this, I must admit I'm quite disappointed by how some people are willing to discuss something without liking it from the beginning. This really paints a negative image of ergonomic keyboards. Feels like i'm watching someone review a 800$ solid copper cooler

"I know it takes weeks to get used to these layouts, but I'm giving it one day, and giving up in three hours but talking about it to make jokes".

It's fine they're not a fan of the style and not convinced. But it seems a very half hearted attempt, especially if they have pain and want to actually address it. I started on ergodox awhile back to deal with wrist pain and it doesn't matter (ms ergo, ergodox, Logitech ergo) I always prefer the format for my wrists now.

The half tempted part and the feeling of not wanting to like it before it starts feels a bit sad, hard to change the feeling of someone when they already decided they don't like something

I don't understand the point of a video like this. Clearly they don't like ergo keyboards and are unwilling to give them any reasonable amount of adjustment time so why even bother?

First of all, 99% of YouTube videos are there to drum up controversy and provide an "uneducated" reaction to get clicks. You have to dig to find an unbiased and educated perspective, especially for ergo stuff, on YouTube.

That said, we have two types of content about ergo keyboards: uneducated inpatient crap like this and reviews targeted towards existing ergo keyboard fans.

What we need is a midde ground. Ergo stuff takes a lot of time and patience to get used to. Plus, most ergo stuff is highly configurable, which can be both a double edged sword anf overwhelming. We need less content convincing existing ergo fans to buy new ergo gearb and more content to help the ergo curious and newbies fully transition into ergo fans.

If you call yourself the keyboard guy you are most definitely not the keyboard guy.
