As per the modern way then, it’s perhaps unsurprising that the movie will now be leaping to premium video on demand services at some speed. While we await a UK announcement, Lionsgate in the US is now making Borderlands available at home from 30th August, just three weeks after it made its debut in cinemas.

To add to the insults, it was pointed out to me via Instagram yesterday, that in this shot from the trailer and film, you can see the crew member helping to pull the hatch open. πŸ˜„

They are trying to squeeze every cent out of this to reduce their losses.

[–] UKFilmNerd@feddit.uk 16 points 2 months ago

By the sound of it, thats going to be impossible! I wonder how much this will impact the directors going forward? I wonder if this will put them in movie jail?

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

They need income to offset the losses against.

Eli Roth is a right wing Zionist pro-genocide piece of trash, and I am glad his movie is tanking.

Good, I've been looking forward to mocking it all week.

Because it's complete shit.

Yeah I think it's a bit wild to say that it's moving to streaming so fast because "that's just what happens to modern movies" ignoring the fact that even people that tried to hate watch this came away depressed and not angry.

Thats the case with all movies that do not do well.

[–] UKFilmNerd@feddit.uk 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I realise that but three weeks! Is that a new record?

[–] BruceTwarzen@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

That movie is gonna be shredded to bits once it hits streaming.

It should be added to any humble bundle that includes a borderlands game

[–] kindenough@kbin.earth 2 points 2 months ago

It has almost nothing to do with the Borderlands games. It's a, quoting Eli Roth, "mix of Star Wars, and Mad Max, and Fifth Element, and Barbarella, and Blade Runner, and Escape from New York.”

....with a Borderlands cosmetic pack slapped on. Also it wasn't anything like the quoted movies either, but that's how he pitched it to Randy Pitchfork.
