It's normal immigration hate imo

Indians are now the largest wave of immigrants in Canada and one of the fastest growing one in USA I believe

also immigrants are easier to exploit than citizens of a country (less worker rights, lower wages, immigrants sometimes have to work illegally, discrimination, etc.), so employers (in low-skilled jobs) are generally more likely to hire them.

then you get a proportional increase in non-white workers that white ppl interpret as them "taking their jobs"/"taking over"; a rise in south Asian immigrants (am including Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and Sri Lankans too) could help fuel this.

plus identifiable groups of people are useful scapegoats for the bourgeoisie to divide the proletariat, especially with perceived "cultural differences" (hint, hint: us-foreign-policy)

Lots of offshoring happening in tech where US employees are being replaced with offshore labor in India. A lot of young labor aristocrats that came into the industry after the cycle of offshoring and the subsequent re-onshoring during the 2000s are getting a taste of the cycle starting again. They came in the industry during the 2010s when the onshore phase was happening and now it's moving into an offhsoring phase.

One part media fueling it with select stories out of India, less context the better to divide the populace, then the other part going to second its the usual 'the immigrants are stealing your cookie crumb' nonsense.

It’s a country with over a billion people with internet access across the world. Negative events will always garner more attention. For every Indian guy teaching you the entirety of the computer science and biology majors for free, you’ll get 50 news articles/social media posts about some weird Indian guy asking for nudes.

No fault to them, but the Indian government is run by patriarchal, theological fascists who hate women. These are the same people mentioned above, the weird guys that flood social media with nationalism and fascism. I imagine most people here are more familiar with the Hindu nationalists kneeling down to get insulted by Zionists then thanking them than they are with Indian anti-zionist activists. This is the nature of the zeitgeist being led by fascists.

This is just part of it. As mentioned in a different comment, Indians also take up a lot of outsourced tech work which usually breeds resentment from westerners using their services. Some of their jobs are also replaced, and some Indians from these sectors also become wildly successful in the corporate world.

It’s a mixture of economic and treat related resentment and unrestricted internet. I imagine the same reaction would be had for Chinese if their internet wasn’t separated. You can already see glimpses of this in gaming spaces where Chinese gamers use VPNs.

Middle class in India is growing, middle class people immigrate, local people are angry because cultural and economic clashes.
