Today’s is a pretty Simple one. the Game is Project Zomboid. I usually don’t like sharing 2D games because they’re hard to make look presentable, but i also like sharing images that break out of my usual “Here’s a Landscape shot” and wanted to share this. Me and My friend had a cookout in a motel we have a Base in. My Character is a Regular Middle Aged Suburban Dad named Jerry, while his character is My Character’s Adoptive Stoner Son, named Cable. There’s a whole lot more “lore” behind them but that’s the general gist of it.

Can't get my friends to ever play this, because they say "it looks like the Sims". Completely ignoring the insane amount of depth this game has.

Sadly not really a game I wanted to play solo much.

[-] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Zomboid started as a Sims mod that has taken on its own world and systems. Imagine the Sims, but a zombie simulator with very detailed and in depth health and healing, food and drink cook, crafting, driving, etc.

They aren't wrong that it looks like the Sims, but that also doesn't make it easy or boring.

Same. The bane of my existence is that the few gamer friends I got only play online board games together, I need friends to play my co-op stuff with

[-] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I only have one friend who will really play with me, so I get what you mean. I added the NPC mod, and that helped a little, but damn nothing compares to having an actual group to play with.

ayyy great game✨

I've probably sunk several years into this

Me too, over 1400 hours. I use a lot of mods. I take a break for a year or more at a time and then get hooked again. I'm trying to wait for the NPC update until I do again

Respect to you. You've been posting your games for over a month every day. I would give up after a week.

[-] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

I honestly didn’t expect to get this far. I’m hoping to make it to 100 next. After that maybe 150

Good luck. Your posts, at least, seem to be the most active interacted ones in this community.

Love this game! Currently waiting on Build 42 to release so I can hop back in.

[-] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

The wait for build 42 is agonizing. I have major respect though for Indie Stone for keeping up on the game for all these years. I know the game gets occasionally bashed for being EA, but it feels like they care with each update (and the public roadmap to release helps too)

Amazing game. I need to play more of this. Love your daily screenshots! Keep em coming!

[-] InFerNo@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 month ago

This isn't 2D... I think of Mario or Sonic as 2D, what's this though, isometric?

[-] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Oh yeah. You’re right. I guess I associate this with being 2D because of all the 2D sprites it uses

[-] Eyck_of_denesle@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 month ago

The game didn't look this good the last time I played. Need to get back on it someday.

[-] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Idk if you’ve been following the game, but we’re about to get Build 42, which includes Weapon Forging, Skyscrapers, and Livestock. It’s really exciting.

[-] Eyck_of_denesle@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago

Skyscrapers and livestock sound exciting. I would love to jump into this with my friends but we are still playing raft. We started procrastinating in a fkn video game lmao. You got any tips for us to finish games?

[-] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Lmao. Me and my friend are in the same boat. The only games I can think of off the top of my head that we’ve beaten is Halo CE and ODST on Legendary. We just kind of had to buckle down and say “okay, we’re going to play through this for the next week, until we beat this”. Besides that though I don’t think we’ve beaten much, or the games we play don’t have a defined “ending” really.

Freakin' Jerries man..

Love your content, and hope you never forget to post! :)

Played this years ago but couldn't quite get into it. Maybe I should try it again to see if it clicks

[-] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

It’s much better with friends imo. Me and the friend in this picture went to pick up a generator from an airstrip and it was forecast to snow. I crashed the car. So we were racing while dragging the generator for miles to get back to our base before it started snowing.

I've never played this, but wanted to say I appreciate your posts and am always happy to see this series of posts continuing!!

[-] xapr@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 1 month ago

Amazing game, especially in multiplayer. It's one of my most played games in online game sessions with family and friends.

[-] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I’d love to get Server setup for my close friend group but I only have 1 friend who would play it regularly, and only 5 of them even own it. So that probably won’t be happening anytime soon.

[-] xapr@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 1 month ago

Sorry to hear. By the way, you don't even need to set up a server. Anyone can host within the game itself, so it can be a spur of the moment thing. Of the ones who own it, have any of them tried playing it, especially multiplayer? What the game lacks in terms of advanced graphics it more than makes up with gameplay, atmosphere, and depth. Good luck!

[-] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Oh yeah. I just meant like a larger scale 24/7 server. Something where I can see it grow when I’m not there

[-] xapr@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 1 month ago

Oh, for sure. My friend ended up setting up a permanent server. It's pretty cool because anyone of us can jump in and play at any time. Although anytime someone does it starts the clock ticking forward, which leads to consequences, as I'm sure you're aware.

[-] ChillPenguin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Such a good game. Sometimes my friends and I turn on runners and randomly drop into the same town. Seeing how long we survive. Just get eaten every second. Good times.

I've been following your posts daily, and this is probably the most interesting one yet.

[-] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I’ve been trying to take screenshots that are more interesting, so including things like NPCs and my friends I play with. The scenic shots look good but they aren’t really interesting to look at I feel like and I’ve noticed people seem to have a lot more fun with these when there’s a subject to them

I just got sucked back into this game a few days ago. None of the people I used to play this with want to touch it again so I've been running solo. It's still fun, but its not the same as slow rolling up to my buddies base in a cop car with the lights and sirens going with half of West Points zombies following behind me.

[-] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I’ve done the same to my friend before, except I spawned in Louisville, so that was the end of that run for him (And me too). After that we always play with the guts camouflage mod so we at least have a fair chance to make it out if one of use fucks over the other.

How so? I don't see the problem.

[-] MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I just personally prefer taking much more cinematic and landscape shots. It’s harder to get those with 2D. Though someone pointed out that Zomboid isn’t 2D, so I guess my point is kind of null and void now
