The Fraternal Order of Police convention in the battleground state of North Carolina was billed as a way for Trump to pitch himself as a law-and-order figure and cast his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, a former prosecutor and California attorney general, as weak.

It's amazing to me that we live in reality where a certain population believes that a convicted felon would be seen as a "law and order" president, but the prosecutor and AG would not.

Do you think cops like prosecutors or AGs?

Cops want to be the end all and be all of the justice system, it's not even unheard of for them to stop doing their jobs to protest the DA/AG/prosecutor who tries to hold a cop accountable or not do something they want.

They'll still arrest and hassle people, even lock them up. But when it goes to trial, they don't. And in our justice system often the only proof of a crime is what a cop says. So if they don't show the case is lost and that hurts the careers of DAs, AGs, and prosecutors.

They 100% identify with a corrupt politicians more than a prosecutor.

Because to them, he never did anything wrong. He was always innocent and is being unjustly persecuted.

Make sure it stays that way, and vote.

They love the feeling of smoke being blown up their ass. How else do you explain them endorsing candidates that consistently vote to make it easier for criminals to get their hands on military grade weapons?

Largest police union endorsing a convicted felon. Upside down world.

The police just see themselves not as exploited protectors of capital but rather temporarily embarrassed felons.

Daily reminder that police aren't workers and the police association is not a union

[-] sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Agreed on the first part, but I'm not sure I agree on the second - the FOP is the best union in the country in terms of protecting its members.

[-] stoly@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Their point is that a union is for workers alone. If you’re not a worker, it can’t be a union. I don’t know what they want it to be called though.

Plus unions don't union bust other unions
