A defiant Mark Robinson (R) said today he is suing CNN over a story that linked the North Carolina gubernatorial candidate to racist and lewd posts on a porn site message board.

Said Robinson: “We’re going after them for what they’ve done!”

Translation: I will not, in fact, be filing any lawsuit because I am terrified of what will come out in discovery

Dude's probably gonna file it, then ask for extensions... To drag out to election time, then drop it before there's discovery.

I don't think the Republicans can choose another candidate, and their going to stand right behind this guy until it gets too weird. (No telling what that is these days)

"...but now that I've made this statement, none of it matters because my constituents will forget about this deliberately, just as they did the 62 law suits that proved the Golden Calf lost in 2020."

Bad headline, bad!

No, he says:

"We're in talks right now. Everything up to legal counsel, to take CNN to task for what they have done to us. We are going after them. We are going to go after them for what they've done."

Until there's an actual court filing, it's all bluff and bluster.

“You’ll hear from my lawyer” is the feckless cry of trash that’s getting ejected from an Applebees parking lot.

I saw something the other day where they were interviewing some people from a republican group in North Carolina. Their response was basically that it's a non-issue for them. Even if every awful thing about him is true, they said they aren't electing saints, they're electing politicians.

Are ya gonna bark all day little doggie, or are you gonna bite?

I'm pretty sure he thinks that because he went back and deleted all his messages that there's no way to tie him to them now.

[-] FunderPants@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

I'm sure he will want to fein outrage and threaten lawsuits to give the permission structure for his supporters to vote for him, on getting elected all these pretend lawsuits dry up.
