What the title says. The higher the number of comments under a post, the more likely there will be an error. I see a post, it says "X number of comments", but when I go to the comments and count them, I notice is X -10 approx. Often more than that. Is there a reason for this comment count discrepancy?

EDIT: Turns out is the same using a browser, so apologies for presuming it was an app related issue. If the mods think this post needs to go- please go ahead and delete

Now that you mention it, yes.

I went into some random posts and the comment count is higher than the actual existing comments.

For me this was because of my language settings.

I only had English selected, so I was missing "undetermined" comments. Vice versa if you have it on undetermined.

Ctrl+click languages in settings to select multiple.

Alright! Jerboa doesn't display language options on my profile, though, I am two versions behind so maybe upon updating I see them?

I selected all the languages on the list on browser and I don't see a change, neither on jerboa or on browser. You are talking about the language options in the profile section, is that right? Or are there more settings elsewhere?

The ones in user settings. The big list of languages.

Also experienced this.

The oobabooga community on lemmy.world doesn't show all the comments while I'm using my lemmy.nz account

Could this be because of federation/defederation? The post is in another instance than you and the comment is from an instance your instance has defederated from?

Update: i just did so. Jerboa says 28 comments for one post, but shows 18. From browser, Lemmy says and shows 18. So it doesn't look like a federation thing, especially since I wasn't logged in when using the browser.

Seems like a bug report to Jerboa might be in order ๐Ÿ˜„

Actually it might not be a Jerboa thing! It's the same on browser. I jumped the gun thinking it was the app

[-] Mothra@mander.xyz 3 points 1 year ago

I considered that? Maybe I can check what I see from browser.

Another option I thought, perhaps edits get counted as new comments?

Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.

Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.
