Between the whining about how the cops haven’t executed the protestors yet and the demands for “Chinese scum” to be expelled, I’m not sure where the supposed progressivism is supposed to be.
It's all astroturfed garbage. After a protest at my university I checked the subreddit and I stopped checking after realizing how many accounts were just zionists / bots who occupy different subreddits with their shitty views.
Location subreddits on reddit suck ass.
If event happens at [place] that is political and enters national news you get thousands of political activists subscribing to [place subreddit]. They aren't actually from that place, they are activist tourists.
They then stay permanently subscribed to [place subreddit] and ruin it forever. Anyone actually from [place] is turned off [place subreddit] and does not contribute to pushing back against them. They just take over.
They are AstroTurfed to hell. When anything gets posted related Gaza its has rabid comments almost instantly. Interestingly, when the post sits for a little it gets slammed by actual students and it totally flips.
I went through the post history of one of these accounts and they only post in Gaza threads, from all over reddit. From dusk to dawn from what I could tell. They were also from Florida based on their comments, no where near the university. They were definitely not alumni from what I could see.
