Rules:

Don't be awful Lemmy Guidelines Still Apply.

No direct upload images This is hosted on Lemm.ee- to post images, you must use an image upload service like Imgur to post maps.

We are agents of chaos I've created this to be the alternative to the community I used to manage on the website that shalt not be named "mapporncirclejerk"

Live and let die Meme trends happen, so please don't message mods asking to take down maps that are repetitive to a bit.

Reposts Vs. Covers Not all reposts are evil- if someone posts something that has been done years ago, it serves to bring old memes to the new users. I call these meme covers. However it can be done in excess which makes it a repost and spam. Mods will determine if a post is a cover or a repost.

No impersonating mods I can't believe I had to make this rule.

No harassing mods on an appeal We can talk it out, and we will be acting in good faith when making decisions. If you disagree with a removal, you are free to message for clarification or to appeal by giving some added context.

Bans Bans will be set to a maximum of 365 days for humans, and a minimum of 365 years for bots. I believe people can change, so if you are banned for good reason, do know that it is not permanent, it is just a way to say "take time to grow and come back when you are ready".

It's still about 50-50

I am frighteningly okay with this?

Pyroclastic Ash and Debris make a lot of good points, although I'm not sure about their position on climate change.

[–] KnitWit@lemmy.world 40 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think I read something once that the ash cloid would create a nuclear winter that lasted at least two years. Sticking to those 1.5C goals!

Personally, I’ve been on team Hypercane ever since the Portland heat dome made it theoretically possible.

Jesus H christ. 800kmh winds that last for weeks. Nothing to do but just die I guess.

[–] RamblingPanda@lemmynsfw.com 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

A dust cloud could potentially bring temperatures down for quite a while. Which would be a new problem.

Well, and all the explody, burny part of volcanos, that on top.

It would be refreshing to have new problems to solve.

[–] RamblingPanda@lemmynsfw.com 10 points 1 week ago

That's the spirit!

Well, I'm not really sure Pyroclastic Ash and Debris would hit the 270 electoral college votes needed to win the election, since most of the states outside of its campaign range would likely not vote for it. This would push the vote for president to the House, where Pyroclastic Ash and Debris has no members of their party to vote for them, resulting in a Trump victory, with the Senate picking the VP, where I'd assume they'd agree on Pyroclastic Ash and Debris' running mate.

[–] Minarble@aussie.zone 4 points 1 week ago

As the Senate is basically tied and VP Harris has to cast the deciding vote, this means that ultimately Harris would choose the next VP?

Different problems superceding entrenched ones can feel like relief.

Sadly it's unlikely to go off anytime soon; people who study this sort of thing say the magma reservoir is not filling.

[–] FunderPants@lemmy.ca 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This sends the election back to the house, resulting in a Trump win. You've probably heard of the "secret plan"? Not so secret now.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 16 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Counting the states that are left, I see 16 blue and 8 red. Election going to the House in this scenario would be a Harris win.

Even Yellowstone endorses Kamala.

Watching for all caps meltdown from Trump over ELECTION INTERFERENCE

You have bested me twice this morning. I am here by retiring for a time to focus on myself.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 11 points 1 week ago

Without you, I would not have had the opportunities. We're in this together. It takes a village.

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Turns out the deep state was a magma chamber

i don't remember the us signing the magma carta

[–] beebarfbadger@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

This eruption would eliminate three quarters of the map, eliminating a majority of the republican electors' counties and kill all 40 voters responsible for that majority.

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Sad to say, there's no Yellowstone supervolcano

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 26 points 1 week ago

Not with that attitude.

[–] fsxylo@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

There is, but its eruption will be kinda boring.

[–] ZMonster@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

...volcano eats the lower 48, Alaska and Hawaii inherit the Pacific.

Personally I think Wyoming is being overly represented in this election, we need to rethink the gerrymandering laws.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

One can only hope.

[–] RangerJosie@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

We couldn't be so lucky.
