I'm heartbroken over the election results and can't shake a feeling of impending doom. The shave was fine.

I’m heartbroken over the election results

I'm more interested what motivated the voters. I have a hunch that most of the US still isn't ready for a woman president. From a practical standpoint, the US stock market had a banner day. It will be important to benefit where possible over the next 4 years. OTOH, my son lives in France. Maybe it's time to move :)

We'll have presidential elections in 2027, and the question is who will face Le Pen.

Il est urgent d'attendre

Very good point!

Good question. I have a hunch about what didn't motivate voters, and that's an out of touch democratic party establishment addicted to corporate campaign donor cash.

That's certainly a part of it.

I'm not shocked, but severely disappointed. Right now seems to be the best time to support each other in Europe, as transatlantic relationships will come with a climate of uncertainty and stubbornness. My thoughts go out to the millions of Americans who are part of some minority group... Uncertain and dark times, sadly. 😞

That's exactly right. And better soon.

Welp, our government coalition just threw the towel: german news here

So yes, better very very soon. Don't know when we'll need to vote now...

Its fucked up. I kinda expected it but still. And anyone wondering how it affects these minorities should read sms's messages this morning. It's really fucked and I'm glad the trumpian guy isn't over here even if he's in disford

It's so fucked up. I expected it, but still had hope for a surge in women voters or a silent moderate conservative vote or something (I know, naive). What really hurts is that not only did he get elected, but it looks like he might have gotten even the popular vote this time around.

I read SMS's messages earlier today and you're right. But I also worry about the international impact. I have good friends in Palestine and a few Ukrainian colleagues, and I'm so worried about how the next four years might do irreparable harm to them and their families.

November 6, 2024 - FLS

  • Brush: Simpson - Trafalgar T2
  • Razor: Rockwell - 6C (R3 plate)
  • Blade: Astra - Superior Platinum (3)
  • Lather: Stirling - Arkadia
  • Post: Stirling - Arkadia AS splash
  • Post: Ginger's Garden - Unscented AS balm (+menthol)
  • Frag: Stirling- Arkadia EdT

I'm glad I took today off to recover from the election chaos. The sun rose as always and I was able to take my time with this luxurious (ℒ️) shave. It left me feeling super refreshed.

I love the scent of Arkadia, one of my favorite Stirling dupes.

Have a great day y'all!

November 6, 2024

  • Brush: AP Shave Co Black 26mm G5A

  • Blade Holder: Gillette Tech English Flat Bottom

  • Blade: Astra Superior Platinum (4)

  • Lather: House of Mammoth - Tobacconist - Soap

  • Aftershave: Noble Otter - Cerberus - Aftershave

2 passes. Bowl lather. Excellent shave.

Final travel shave. Tobacconist is among my favorite HoM scents.

06.11.2024 - Three times the charm

  • Brush: RazoRock 400 Noir SE 24 mm
  • Razor: Stando Perun
  • Blade: King C. Gillette
  • Lather: Barrister & Mann - The Full Measure of Man
  • Post-Shave: Osma alum block; Thayer's Original toner; Alterra men natural ASB

2 passes on the face, one on the head. Yep, I switched my usual order today - but didn't like it at all. Face got a few blood spots out of nowhere on the second pass - weird thing is that they didn't even hurt. I probably need to give it a day of rest tomorrow.

Third tobacco soap now - FMoM is a fairly recent addition to my collection but an instant favourite. This is a very sophisticated tobacco - usually it's hard to emulate the dry, cigar leaf scent so most just go with floral tobacco. B&M actually did it very great though... I love it.

Now to address the elephant in the room: of course I am also deeply disappointed by the election results and like most of you, hoped for a different outcome. Regardless, it was a democratic election. The will of the people needs to be respected... but damn: I feel awful for all those who are LGBTQ+, immigrants, POC, disabled or part of another minority group. Do me a favour and look out for those people as well as for each other. It's the best thing to do in tough times.
Germany will face a general election next year... while Scholz was definitely bad, I really hope we don't get our version of a despot then.

Wednesday, November 6, 2024: Et in Arcadia ego

  • Preshave: Proraso Green Preshave
  • Brush: Zenith 506U XS Horse 🐎
  • Razor: MΓΌhle R41 (3-piece)
  • Blade: Astra Superior Platinum (21)
  • Lather: Stirling Arcadia
  • Postshave: Naissance 702 Witch Hazel
  • Postshave: Terre d'HermΓ¨s After Shave Lotion
  • Postshave: Nivea After Shave Balm

Second shave with a DE in a row – this time with better results. I could have made more effort in the chin area, but overall, satisfying closeness.

I checked yesterday, and Arcadia is a soap that I have had since 2022, and on which I haven't made much progress (just like with Spiced). Only Le Grand Chypre has been longer in my den, but I expect to kill LGC next year. Arcadia and Spiced, on the other hand, I'm afraid that I will have to mention in my testament...

Finally, cursed be the person who designed the Terre d'HermΓ¨s after shave bottle 🌩️🌩️🌩️. How difficult can it be? Literally everyone else gets it right – but Terre d'HermΓ¨s manages to have such a ridiculously short neck that it's impossible to dose correctly.

Have a good evening!
