This is going to be a game changer. I've been using Sync Pro since 2015 and can't see myself using anything else for mobile browsing. Thanks for the awesome app!
MVP
Most Valuable Program?
Minimum viable product
MVP! MVP! MVP!
Minimum Viable Product, if anyone wants to know the answer.
Thought I agree on most valuable
It's exciting to see all these apps ramping up development. Honestly, the greatest gift that Reddit gave to the fediverse is sending all their former third party developers here, because that will greatly accelerate development.
Thanks Obama... I meant Spez
The whole fediverse needs some serious UX work.
Well yeah, but that's the difference between volunteering and being on a big salary. Hopefully the influx of new users will lead to more code input though, and more donations.
Yeah using it rn is pretty ass compared to old reddit and 3rd party apps. Good things coming tho.
Just created an account then downloaded Jerboa. I am +/- ten minutes old here in Fediverse yet. About to delete my 11 year-old account in Reddit. Thank you u/spez
Same here !
This will really legitimize and mainstream the platform!
I am a Boost for Reddit User, but have seen Sync and it is well designed. Jerboa is cool but it is not there yet. The experience the dev from Sync brings to Lemmy will be amazing.
Not asking for features but would be good if kbin is included with it so that user fragmentation is limited. I still don't really understand the difference with Lemmy but it's cool.
My understanding is its all different UIs creating/cataloging content via the ActivityPub standard and it comes down to the different "types" of content being emphasized or focused on. Lemmy focuses on"link aggregation" ala Reddit, Mastodon does "Microblogging" ala Twitter, kbin does and supports both.
Thanks for your answer it clears it up.
So theoretically it seems like someone could create an app which "marries" mastodon content with Lemmy.
Really, I think one of the only reasons kbin hasn't exploded like the others, is because of that split nature. The Mastodon blow up and the Reddit blew up were both instances of people looking for a very direct replacement to the thing they were leaving, rather than something that was, from their perspective at the time, a replacement with extras. Kbin could also use more devs though, I think they just have the one who is doing it on donations alone.
Yes, I haven't tried it myself but my understanding is that kbin is exactly that. What kbin calls a "magazine" maps directly with Lemmy communities/subs and a kbin user can subscribe to a Lemmy sub via the same process they would use to subscribe to a kbin magazine. Kbin microblogging maps directly with Mastodon posts and so a kbin user can follow Mastodon users and their posts the same way they follow fellow kbin user microblogs.
The end of Sync is the reason why I will leave Reddit at the end of the month. So nice to see that we eventually might get a new app for Lemmy!
If only sync for reddit would auto-update to sync for lemmy
Same And double samez
nice. I've personally been more of a Boost user my self so was a bit disappointed to hear the dev was not planning to port or support lemmy which I understand. so far jerboa has been decent but I'll keep an eye out for others.
Great news!! I would rather Infinity for Lemmy, but it's a great step in the right direction to make a best community. Althought Infinity is open source. If I were programmer I will do Infinity for Lemmy. But I need time before know how to program.
I want an infinity for lemmy as well
Please, to some programmer: make this posible!
that's great! Althout I already am enjoying Jerboa, is good to know that we will have more alternatives
Hell yeah
That's awesome. Sync is the best Reddit client on Android.
I was always a rif guy but I've seen so many posts here about sync, seems like a lot of people loved it. Being about to reply to a comment from my inbox, or at least navigate to where its at in the thread, would be a nice upgrade!
I'm hoping we get a Lemmy is fun app personally
I've really liked using Boost on my Android device. How do they compare?
So many good news. Glad these developers are also trying out other options since Reddit has started shitting itself.
Oh god, yes ❤️
i will follow the sync app to the ends of the earth
I saw it in the redditsync subreddit already - this is such great news, especially since I'm still struggling to get used to the Lemmy interface. I had bought Sync Pro 7 years ago and it is probably the most heavily used app on my phone.
As a iOS user I really hope Apollo will follow!
Been Joey for Reddit user for as long as I remember.
I wanna try Sync for Lemmy. This is way to go!
First time I've seen Joey mentioned during this whole debacle, but it's been my choice for as long as I've had an android too
I've personally sent the developer an email regarding Joey for Lemmy. Would be neat to have the same ol experience here. :)
Quite ironic it's a subreddit though
yeah I thought that was kinda funny, but OOP's users are Reddit users so I guess it makes sense. Once they have the MVP out probably it should move to a Lemmy community
They have one already. OP probably just linked this one by mistake.
Yea website is quite unusable on phone, but we'll get there.
maybe try using script to make it look like old reddit - https://github.com/soundjester/lemmy_monkey
I already bought Sync for Reddit twice. Removing ads from the free version the first time (it was still called Reddit Sync back then) and then again for the 'ad code not even included' pro version earlier this year. Guess I'll be buying Sync a third time.
Or more specifically, Google will be buying it for me with the cash they paid for my data.

Are you talking about this google rewards program that pays you in google play money?
