Summary

A mass shooting outside the Amazura Concert Hall in Jamaica, Queens, left 10 teenagers, aged 16 to 19, injured on New Year’s Day.

Four male suspects fired about 30 rounds into a crowd of 15 people waiting outside a vigil for a 16-year-old victim of a prior shooting.

All victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to recover.

Police are searching for the suspects, who fled in a light-colored sedan. Queens officials condemned the violence, and the public is urged to assist with the investigation.

It's the second damn day of 2025. We had a horrible situation on Bourbon Street, and now a shooting at a vigil. I knew it was gonna be bad, but I thought we had at least a couple weeks before the shitshow started.

This is almost certainly a gang killing. The kid they were memorializing was very likely a gang killing as well.

The sad part is that the gangs are absolutely full of teenagers and young adults. There was a drive by shooting at the venue where I used to perform. One kid got shot in the head shortly after impregnating his 19yo girlfriend. He wasn't even involved, though he was part of the gang. The whole argument was over a girl.

Streets gangs are organized, but have largely had their leadership structures dismantled through RICO.

Most, if not all, of these kids are set/clique banging. Their outbursts of violence tend to be more about bloodfueds, and less protecting their rackets market share, or profits.

The country's collective mental health needs addressing on multiple fronts and it needs to start locally and reach nationally if we're ever going to actually address any of this shit.

Wow. That’s so fucked. Everybody that goes to the next vigil needs a gun and bulletproof vest. This is America.

Yes, the solution is to hide lootboxes around town with weapons and armor. Winner winner chicken dinners for the best gang. No building of course because that shit is cracked.

But no seriously, systemic corruption is what allows violence to perpetuate and trying to fix this dumpster fire of a world is like staring at the sun hoping that inanimate ball of nuclear fusion will get scared and say sorry.

Systemic corruption makes sense. Like maybe money is the root of all but it really uses the help.
