But those kinks will be banned as well

[–] BlueEther@no.lastname.nz 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I'll be intrested in the results of this thread

After the last few days

... Money is a game and the ladder we climb

Turns a saint into a sinner with his finger in crime

I'll break it down for you motherfuckers line by line

This is business economics in a nursery rhyme

She sells seashells on a seashore

But the value of these shells will fall

Due to the laws of supply and demand

No one wants to buy shells 'cause there's loads on the sand

Step 1: you must create a sense of scarcity

Shells will sell much better if the people think they're rare, you see Bare with me, take as many shells as you can find and hide 'em on an island stockpile 'em high until they're rarer than a diamond

Step 2: you gotta make the people think that they want 'em

Really want 'em, really fuckin want 'em

Hit 'em like Bronson

Influencers, product placement, featured prime time entertainment

If you haven't got a shell then you're just a fucking waste man

Three: it's monopoly, invest inside some property, start a corporation, make a logo, do it properly

"Shells must sell", that will be your new philosophy

Swallow all your morals they're a poor man's quality

Four: expand, expand, expand, clear forest, make land, fresh blood on hand

Five: why just shells? Why limit yourself? She sells seashells, sell oil as well!

Six: guns, sell stocks, sell diamonds, sell rocks, sell water to a fish, sell the time to a clock

Seven: press on the gas, take your foot off the brakes, Run to be the president of the United States

Eight: big smile mate, big wave that's great Now the truth is overrated, tell lies out the gate

Nine: Polarize the people, controversy is the game

It don't matter if they hate you if they all say your name

Ten: the world is yours, step out on a stage to a round of applause

You're a liar, a cheat, a devil, a whore

And you sell seashells on the seashore

Rain, rain, rain, rain

A storm, it comes our way

And those who rise through distorted lies

Poisoning the veins

But we like to point the blame, blame, blame, blame It's easier to blame

But point the mirror at ourselves We're all part of this old money game

That was what I was thinking, and he will have the backing of the supreme court.

God I feel sorry for you Americans and us as the rest of the world

Yeah, it would come with a full H&S review if we did change

That is why I said PLB plus txt. The satellite txt function of inReach is a fantastic function, but there is a 20min round trip. If Starlink and One Network can get that down that would be great.

[–] BlueEther@no.lastname.nz 8 points 1 week ago (6 children)

Can't wait, this could save us $15,000 a year in inReach access fees if we switched to just PLB and phone access for messaging.

you could live in a 3rd world country that doesn't care if individuals pirate. eg New Zealand

A leading scientist is welcoming the end to a gene technology ban, saying New Zealand has missed opportunities because of outdated rules.

WHAKAARI / WHITE ISLAND The Volcanic Alert Level has been raised to Level 3 at White Island and the Aviation Colour Code raised to orange.

Aviation Colour Code Orange indicates that a volcanic eruption is underway but with little or no ash being produced.

On Geonet's website, duty volcanologist Geoff Kilgour said the volcano had produced "a more vigorous plume" on Friday afternoon, moving volcanic ash to the east of the island.

Today, 10th August, Whakaari exhibited vigorous activity at the vent, which maintained a constant plume that was visibly depositing ash into the sea. The latest official information is available from GeoNet at https://www.geonet.org.nz/mbl/news/6C...

Just to clarify, a drone has no sound, from the brief times we could hear the sound it was identical to Dukono in Indonesia. This was the sound used in this video.

With much of Europe glowing pink will we get to see a good display here in NZ?

Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

Hi all

I'm looking to replace my old IBM M3 an M4 servers with something more modern

Use case:

  • Proxmox:
    • OPNsense
    • TrueNAS
    • Plex/Jellyfin
    • Reverse proxy
    • Web servers for blogs etc
    • QBT
    • Nextcloud
    • IoT/home automation
    • A heap of linux VMs/Containers of odds and ends
    • Docker
      • arr stack
      • Dashboards
    • etc

Maybe replace the 3/4s dead laptop that is currently driving the lounge TV as well

I'm looking to hopefully replace the diskshelf at the same time and have a mix of sata and sas drives (I can carry over the HBAs for the sas)

I've not built a pc for nigh on 15 years so I'm a tad out of the loop.

From reading it looks like intel may be the best route and I was thinking of something like:

  • Core i5 12400 or Core i5 14400
  • B760M DS3H AX mATX or B660M Pro RS

I'm open to thoughts and ideas of what id doable

Edit: The IBM M4 runs E5-2650 v2 and 96GB ram

The M3 runs dual xeon 5xxx and has about 60BG ram and is only used for testing/play and is seldom powered up

Oh well good by:

After the post the other day , this is the price I have to pay for 2 visits to the EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT, about 10 to 12 X-rays, a CT scan, two nights in hospital (so far) and all the drugs

Glad to not live in the ‘land of the free’

Just tidying up my music collection and stumbled on this that I had forgotten about
