Those are all factors, and brainwashing is also a problem. But beyond that, Trumpism is to a certain extent the logical conclusion of the American culture. He represents a perverted yet unabashed and clear representation of the American Dream - at least the illusion of Trump does.

The me-first thinking, the worship of capitalism, the shameless revelry in gaudy displays of tasteless wealth - it's all there. It's completely unsurprising to me that someone like him would appeal to a lot of Americans. There are a lot of people who idolise and wish they themselves could be like the image he projects.

OP, why did you editorialise the title? Much like the other commenter I was initially offended on Uematsu's behalf, but after clicking the link I noticed the original headline was:

How Final Fantasy maestro Nobuo Uematsu legitimised video game music

Mix of poor quality players, injuries and sloppy handling of games/late collapses. Having to/choosing to play Michael Keane so much is not doing them any favours either. I do think they'll survive in the end, though, buy we'll see. They don't have the advantage of three other astronomically poor teams in the bottom this season, unlike last time.

Compounded, I'm sure, by an often full diaper. Must be quite the bouquet.

I didn't watch all the matches or see all the goals, but from what I've seen it's hard to look past Duran's screamer against Everton. I'm not usually one to go for the long range efforts, but it's rare to see that type of swerve.

Which is an extremely important distinction. "I'm sorry you were offended" is not a true apology, and everyone should be aware of this whether regarding Trump or other bullies you may encounter in your life.

Reminder that he is a malignant narcissist, and is biologically incapable of accepting blame, responsibility or personal faults. As per the Narcissist's Prayer:

That didn't happen.

And if it did, it wasn't that bad.

And if it was, that's not a big deal.

And if it is, that's not my fault.

And if it was, I didn't mean it.

And if I did, you deserved it.

It's an underappreciated fact that art direction trumps graphical fidelity, and it's not close. Grim Fandango for example is old as dirt but still holds up remarkably well thanks to its unique look and strong art direction, despite being challenged polygonally and resolution-wise etc. There are many other examples.

I think you're giving Trump too much credit. This comment sums it up succinctly, but I sincerely believe Trump is not capable of thinking about the future. He only brought up the cats and dogs because he thought it was his best anti-immigrant fear-mongering line available at the time.

I won the debate, but the only reason I lost was she cheated!

I was waiting for the original poster to repost it here, but if they aren't then I will since this photo definitely belongs here.

Not his best comic but there's some good stuff in there as always. The "Fatty" (sorry, body-positivity) Foulkes reference was a great deep cut.^[1]

Three weeks into her presidential run was the first time the Biden campaign’s pollsters — now hers — held a deep-dive call with Kamala Harris’ inner circle to discuss what she’s been saying on the stump.

Over the line came a lot of praise, but also some suggested tweaks. First, said veteran Democratic numbers man Geoff Garin, summarizing their analysis, stop saying, “We’re not going back.” It wasn’t focused enough on the future, he argued. Second, lay off all the “weird” talk — too negative.

Yes, stop using the two approaches that has been most effective. Absolute genius. I can't for the life of me see why the Dems have a reputation of shooting themselves in the foot.

EDIT: Thankfully Kamala trusted her instincts and has had the good sense to ignore said advice so far

After the article was published, Rick Wilson personally responded to Donald Trump in a video.

Most if not all of these clips were already in the developer deep dive, but this is a shorter more digestible video - without the distraction of voice overs.

It's so cool seeing all these familiar locations in their new visual splendour.

O’Donnell ripped cable news networks for carrying the event live and called it “2016 all over again,” adding that outlets are making the “same mistakes” with their reporting as they did while covering Trump that election cycle.

He also criticized reporters for not asking follow-up questions and knocked networks for fact-checking only after Trump finished speaking.

...

O’Donnell also knocked networks for not covering Vice President Kamala Harris’ Michigan speech live after the Trump presser, noting that his network was doing Olympics coverage before bringing viewers the last few minutes of her remarks.

EDIT: Changed link target to comply with community rules.

An absolutely insane display of grit, adrenaline and the power of being pushed by the crowd. I think he's never put up a time below 3:30, and now clocks in at 3:27.65, setting an Olympic record in the process.

You would expect Saudi to go all out and not let themselves be outdone on spectacle by Miami and Vegas, but this is more than even I expected. That turn one is straight out of Mario Kart.

I will often have to spend an extra tap to show parent/context since I want to remind myself before replying. It would be a nice quality of life setting to be able to show them by default.

I'm not particularly worried about whether BG3 will be good or not since D:OS 1&2 were both excellent, but I'm a little worried about it feeling like a Baldur's Gate game and not Divinity: Dungeons and Dragons.

How is the writing style and atmosphere? Does the story connect in any meaningful way? Are there any recurring major characters, hopefully even potential party members? In short, does it feel like a Baldur's Gate game?
