The full quote: "Arouse, ye slaves! Declare war, not on the capitalist, but on the capitalist system, and if it should be your fate or your fortune to suffer in years to come, that suffering will not be the result of your own deliberate act. I am for the freedom of the working class. Though my heart yearns for the freedom of men, I am powerless. Only the working class itself can achieve its emancipation. The workingman who is not yet awakened, who has not yet realized all his class interests, is a blind tool, the willing instrument of his own degradation, and thousands of them on the 4th of July, when reference is made to the capitalist flag that symbolizes the triumph of capitalism only, thousands of these wage slaves will applaud their own degradation. What is wanted is not a reform of the capitalist system, but its entire abolition." https://inthesetimes.com/article/fourth-july-eugene-debs-socialism-flag-independence-day

Community is the answer. Find people around you who you can love and who love you. They are out there you just have to look. https://youtu.be/wBYjv7dc7Qw

It's a growing trend all over the western world. As the climate crises and political destabilization caused by the history of western intervention causes mass immigration the same countries will shut their borders and become more right wing. It's more likely we see a resurgence of fascism across the west then any left wing momentum due to the built in power structure.

100% agree. I think that's largely what we see right now. Easy answers and solutions are given by reactionaries that already confirm to the worldview of people growing up in the US. Hence the growing fascist movement. Fascism is capitalism in decay, after all.

"Terrified by the 1917 Russian revolution, government officials came to believe that communism could be defeated in the United States by getting as many white Americans as possible to become homeowners - the idea being that those who owned property would be invested in the capitalist system." -The Color of Law

The amount of dehumanizing of Russians I see on the timeline from both liberals and conservatives is sickening. The American media propaganda machine is so strong it can get people to forget there basic humanity.

Haven't watched it but thanks for the recommendation. A show I have started to get into recently with some good anti imperialist politics is Code Geoss.
