But, man, you're never going to get any truth from us. We'll tell you anything you want to hear; we lie like hell. We'll tell you that, uh, Kojak always gets the killer, or that nobody ever gets cancer at Archie Bunker's house, and no matter how much trouble the hero is in, don't worry, just look at your watch; at the end of the hour he's going to win. We'll tell you any shit you want to hear. We deal in illusions, man! None of it is true! But you people sit there, day after day, night after night, all ages, colors, creeds... We're all you know. You're beginning to believe the illusions we're spinning here. You're beginning to think that the tube is reality, and that your own lives are unreal. You do whatever the tube tells you! You dress like the tube, you eat like the tube, you raise your children like the tube, you even think like the tube! This is mass madness, you maniacs! In God's name, you people are the real thing! WE are the illusion! So turn off your television sets. Turn them off now. Turn them off right now. Turn them off and leave them off! Turn them off right in the middle of the sentence I'm speaking to you now! TURN THEM OFF... [collapses in a prophetic swoon as the audience erupts in thunderous applause]

Its called surveillance capitalism.

Microsoft is first and foremost a company that aims to profit on the data it can gather.

If you are working on a pi, you have to pay attention to the architecture that a distro supports.

As someone that tends to learn most by doing. Most of these comments are excellent my only suggestion is to try it. Most Linux distros come with live images which you dont need to install to test out.

Just download the ISO and put it on a USB and then boot from the usb. You can even make a multiboot USB with ventoy.

Or you can use distrosea to demo a distro in a browser.

I also highly suggest using the arch wiki for research. It will probably go into much more depth than you need at first but it will also not dumb things down or over simplify things for you so you might actually learn. Take this doc on what a DE is for instance, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Desktop_environment

FRs have also been documented to migrate from toys into artificial saliva (Brandsma et al., 2022). With migration rates determined from subjecting contaminated toys to artificial saliva to mimic mouthing by children, Brandsma et al. estimated children's intake at up to 0.22 ng/kg bw/day for BDE-209, 0.88 ng/kg bw/day for 2,4,6-TBP, 0.03 ng/kg bw/day for TTBP-TAZ, and 2.28 ng/kg bw/day for TBBPA. These values were derived from the highest amount of migration detected, but may not represent the worst-case scenario, as Chen et al. (2019) detected greater migration using human volunteers.

That's true if you are only concerned about microplastics.

What this article states however is that dangerous chemicals might leach out from many black colored plastics without any heat being applied. And it can be from things that you might not be able to control like restaurant takeout containers farming planters, and children's toys.

I do think the type of plastic might also play a role, like if it's PP, HDPE, etc. But I have yet to read the study quoted in the article.

Many black plastic kitchen items are made from recycled electronic materials that contain toxic flame retardants and other chemicals.

Its a good thing this hold over from immediately after the attacks on 9/11 happened is still in effect or the terrorist might have won.

Not to hijack the thread but which airlines is least likely to put you on a plane made by boeing?

I think those codes depend on the state and it may depend if it is empty or if a child lives with you but even if there were a fence, they are normally pretty flimsy and meant to keep young children from getting in unsupervised. A ride on lawnmower is going to tear though one super easily.

What do you mean by a driver manager? I'm not familiar with that term, it sounds like a gui for managing and updating drivers. Or maybe you want something to help you switch between integrated graphics on your cpu to your dedicated gpu?

In most cases, updating drivers doesn't require a GUI and can actually create more work. For instance, compare this Manjaro video of how to use its gui to install Nvidia drivers vs this line of code to install/update the Nvidia drivers on endeavorOS.

eos-update --nvidia

Ofcourse if you use an arch based distro you can also use the arch wiki to help you manage your drivers exactly the way you want. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA

If you want to control which apps use your GPU or integrated graphics, than you can just install prime and prepend a package name with the string prime-run when opening or in steam launch settings.

I used to like Manjaro but they way they handled the recent pacman changes were so terrible that I no longer recommend it. It still has a great GUI and I think other arch based distros could learn from.

Most regulatory agencies classify Chilean sea bass as “overfished,”...

https://www.allthingsnature.org/is-chilean-sea-bass-endangered.htm

They changed the name to something which is morally not cool to eat.

Did they put an an "AI" in charge of marketing?

What are your backup plans for an internet and telecom shutdown?

I don't believe trusting in satilite internet companies (especially one owned by a fascist) are very practical.

Outside of radio and ad-hoc networks however, I'm not sure what other options would be feasible for the average person that wanted to prepare for something like this.

I love Jellyfin. I did think these recommendations were a bit funny however since they were so off.

Maybe the recommendations need to also look at the movies mpaa rating? Like something PG shouldn't be recommended after watching an R and especially not vice versa.

I guess it becomes complex quickly if you want to add other rating systems to the mix.
