I've always thought "Tankie" meant apologists for Strong Man Authoritarian Dictators/Dictatorships.

The people they defend are in no way "Left." That's a holdover from 80's Reagan "Commies are Leftists" propaganda.

Most modern Democrats are Reagan Republican Neoliberals.

I don't know this for a fact, but I've read, and a guy I personally know who worked in Russia back in the 80's state that it's just Russian culture to take advantage of the "weak." They just believe if you're not trying to get over, you're stupid.

The Chinese put the good of the whole (The State) over the individual, and are highly authoritarian, and brutal when they think it's necessary, to enforce that ideology. Obviously, those in power in will take advantage of their position, but not like Americans do.

That said, those cultural mindsets would be alien to me, and I don't want to live in either of those cultures.

There has to be some accountability, especially for those is positions of power and authority. They should not be allowed to blatantly, and obviously lie their asses off, then claim "I don't recall...," or "I was mistaken...," or throw a subordinate under the bus for providing "Erroneous information."
