Not really. That's the reason for the new season is that everyone starts with a clean slate. A new character at this time won't help anything if you've already done statues, unlocked the main city waypoints, and renown to the third tier in each area.

Now season 2 was my first time getting to 100 and attempt to clear the season challenges. And my advice there since I won't complete it: do NOT skimp on leveling up your glyphs. I did everything else but I lost my momentum at the end because it became daunting.
