That was fun and only slightly went over my head

Hey all, have I damaged this xbox 360 controller circuit board beyond repair?

The Pictures

  • The Red circle is the side I managed to fix.
  • The Blue circle is the parts I could not get to bind properly.

The issues and my process

So I had a pair of xbox 360 controller controllers with corroded battery terminal springs. I managed to successfully replace the first controller's springs, but the second I was having trouble with. The solder would not bind to the pad and it would form a lump that would break off under any pressure.

I consulted the internet and someone mentioned I just needed to crank up the heat. That didn't work and the binding seemed to get worse, further it looks like it is now burnt all the terminal pad.

The internet then told me to scrap away the surface as it might be residual flux and it should be fine underneath. It still fails to securely bind.

I suspect the corrosion ate so far into the device that the pad itself was too weak to bind. I also suspect I am an idiot.

Is there any saving this?

My Plan should I discover I borked it

360 controllers have additional terminals on the back which I might be able to connect to something instead of the battery pads.

I'm excited, I've been replaying through the series. I'll probably not pick it up immediately, but eventually.

Ik, my brother was playing it by himself all last night. Jokes aside I'm really glad, I'm gonna round up the crew and mvm

I think stick to the red if you're mounting it near the existing one. Regardless, if you do end up printing the other colours, please post. I think an opaque green would look really good.

I have very little experience (6 prints so far on an ender 3).

When is the last time you've leveled your bed?

I had a similar tubing issue (no idea what the term is) where there would just be random tubes off the objects body.

I manually leveled and printed again and the print came out fine.

Good luck

Awesome design, very consistent with the rest of the parts

That is amazing, great colour choice.

It's currently really cold here so that might help,

The lower center of gravity is a brilliant idea.

The habit I'm trying to break is writing out a response and then not posting it.

Hey all,

This is my first attempt at creating a low poly model print in blender. I was trying to recreate a weiro (Cockatiel) with a compartment in its back. I forgot the wings but happy with the how it came out.

I'm planning another print from the opposite corners of my print bed to give me more room.

The issues I'll try fixing next time are:

  • The feet are not flat on the floor and it tips over easily.
  • I had random threads of plastic coming from the model. I cut them off but I have no idea what went wrong.
  • the crest was kinda sharp.
  • It looks like I need to do some calibration, the bottom where the supports were looks a bit wonky.
  • It is way smaller than I imagined (Though the proportions seem right so hopefully I can just scale it).
  • The gap in the mouth is too small (hoping to fit a rose in its mouth)

let me know if you have any tips or can spot some obvious setting I missed, I've only had my printer for a few weeks.
