When I first saw the footage of the immolated bodies in the car that Israel showed to journalists, I was immediately sceptical that Hamas brought that kind of firepower across the border on October 7; they mostly had assault rifles, hand grenades, and a few RPGs. That kind of destruction is much more probable from a helicopter than infantry.

The idea that Israel would then show that footage as justification for implementing similar atrocities on more than ten thousand Palestinians really makes me sick to my stomach.

Even the best climate scientists have been underestimating feedback, which is amplifying and accelerating the effects. A ton of models are linear when reality is exponential. We're finally in 2023 seeing more climate scientists admit that they've been far too conservative/optimistic.

Khamenei predicts the State of Israel will be gone by 2040. Seems at least plausible, if for no other reason than global warming + the decline of the US.

When consulted about the rejection expressed by some sections of the Western left towards anti-imperialist movements that have a religious base, such as Hamas, Barakat called it “an extension of a colonialist mindset.” “They want a Palestinian resistance that fits their image and their criteria, and not how reality is and how Palestinians are,” he said. He added that the same sectors used to criticize the Marxist-Leninist PFLP when it lead the armed struggle during the 1960s-70s, calling the organization “too extreme.”

This is arguably worse than no pause at all because the explicit point of it is to assist in the internal displacement (i.e. ethnic cleansing) of northern Gaza. The PFLP condemned UNRWA for abandoning northern Gaza and establishing its center in the south, "in a dangerous alignment with the occupation's displacement plans". I sincerely hope it actually helps alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people but even if the Zionists stick to it (they won't) it really only helps the occupation. I imagine IOF will still move in and around Gaza and "defend" themselves if it's convenient to do so.

Additionally, it only applies within Gaza, primarily to the bombing. A crucial part of the resistance is occurring outside of Gaza, for example in Jenin, where this won't apply. If anything I expect an increase in "settler" vigilante attacks and IOF raids during these 4 hours.

Critical support for comrade Zelenskyy in weakening western imperialism and thwarting the Zionist regime!

Stealing Palestinian land and colonizing it with Jewish refugees from Western states was never going to make the Jewish people more safe – a reality that became painfully clear on October 7.
