In theory, I agree. Nuclear weaponry should never exist. The power to erase millions of people with a single push of a button is absolute insanity.

In practice, the world isn't going to suddenly decide to de-arm itself and dismantle every nuke. So if they aren't giving up theirs, refusing to make my own over that just leaves me another corpse on the moral high road.

Sometimes I wonder if the world would be a better place had the Manhattan project been sabotaged by the scientists and nuclear weapons were deemed unfeasible. I'd like to think so.

People talk about being there “for” someone. Here being there “with” him is more important.

When I'm depressed, having someone sitting on the couch in my living room scrolling on their phone is infinitely more meaningful to me than someone who is miles away and texting me a lot or offering to help with things. It's probably part of my neurodivergence but having the person close in proximity while at least sort of paying attention to the room makes me feel less alone than having 10 people trying to check in on me all day.

And even if you DO post in small communities, half the time it's a toss-up as to whether anyone will see it.

I'm not sure about lemmy, but reddit was roughly 50% US users, so it was a good bet that if you timed posts for "early morning" US browsing or "after work" EU browsing, your post would do well.

Idk lemmy's demographic breakdown, but it seems more generalized (imagine that, a diverse fediverse!) around the world, so it's hard for me to tell when the most users will be active.

I think if enough executive orders were signed, Project Sundial could be finished in two months.

Anybody have JBs number? I have a proposal.

I haven't watched fallout yet, just because I haven't been in a "fallout" mood since the show dropped, so my only experience with video game shows is Halo.

And I literally couldn't finish a single episode.

So as long as nobody grabs a shovel, at the very least they can only trip over the bar. It's as low as can be.

Hi, I'm someone who loves to play video games, absolutely cannot stand to watch other people play games, and for a thankfully brief period, was completely unable to play certain games due to insufficient reflexes.

This would have allowed me to play a wider range of games. I probably wouldn't have been able to beat dark souls, but plenty of other games would be on the table.

Heres the best part about features like this, and I hope you're sitting because this might blow your mind: if you don't want it, and don't like it..... don't use it.

Hope that helps clear a few things up.

I more meant it as "a general strike wouldn't work"

It's just a joke about how people "don't have any guns" because they lost them. Not stolen because they would have to report that. They're somewhere unreachable that you technically COULD verify, but likely wouldn't unless there's a very specific (usually requiring a warrant to get people to move) reason.

So "boating accident" is to goto joke accident. Nobody would actually believe you if you said that to a cop, judge, or courtroom.

Meanwhile, on a ship slightly further away

"HEY, get a load of this! They managed to get something floating, but they forgot to put a sail on one of the masts!, it's just got a spike on the end! Haha hahaha!"

ship get closer.... And closer.... And closer...

"Wait... Why aren't they holding anything to throw or shoot at us?....... They're getting into a formation near the ma... Wait that's not a mast. It has rails.. Oh.... Oh no.........."

Hopefully they wore their brown tunic today...

They used to own tons, but sadly since the boating mishap, they're all at scattered at the bottom of a really deep lake.

Who would have thought that bringing every single one of your legally purchased firearms onto a small boat to show them the world would be a bad idea?

Oh well, no need to look for them.

The moral high road is littered with corpses, and it looks like we're bound and determined to add more to the pile.
