Would be awesome if there was a way to do this with user accounts as well. Especially with news like this, that's a missing piece of this federation business. Because even once you've settled on lan instance, there's no guarantee it's going to stay open long term. And it kinda sucks on the user's end to lose all your comment and post history like that. And saved posts.

Not that I blame that on any admins, I can understand their decision. Just riffing about the user experience here in the Fediverse. If you can re-index communities and posts therein, that gives me hope that you could potentially do that with a user account.

That's awesome! Out of all the people I've interacted with here, it's hard to think of anyone better for this job. Thanks for making this place brighter. And that is an adorable selection of bunnies indeed!

Immediately thought of this thread when I saw this:

I tried Tumblr out briefly not long ago, finally. And I guess I've missed the good days? The place feels a little too much like a shopping mall as opposed to what I was expecting. These tumblr memes always gave me 'old internet' vibes but what I saw was a lot closer to modern Facebook style.

Nope. But that's just because I'm wayward and perpetually broke. If I had my shit together I for sure would because it's been one of my main sources of information through the years, whether it's an interesting article or lists of things to collect / watch / listen to. And it's not enshitified or tacky and provides information in text form and not video form. So if it stays that way, the magical future me that is finally financially stable definitely will.

Hey, just wanted to say / suggest, if you or anyone else here is looking for fun content to post in this community, you should check out reductress.com, it's basically an Onion / Hard Times style website but particularly focused on women.

Edit: apologies for the deleted comment, it was a double. Either my network or this new instance that I'm on have been awful the last two days.

Not using it but I'd probably use it for a Lemmy app tbh. The average Lemmy app seems to have way more useful features than the vanilla desktop experience. Other than that, probably just games, although it's not like the same selection on Android is exactly stellar.

The really funny thing about Spez is that he's far from a power player in the tech scene, nowhere near the likes of Musk and Zuckerberg. But he so desperately wants to be that he actually just looks sad and pathetic in the process.

Wtf is he going to do with his stockpile of motorbikes during the apocalypse? Start a Mad Max biker crew? What a fkn loser lol.

Yeah I like the idea behind this but the fact that out of the 12 months, this was the month that was chosen for this is fairly eyebrow raising. I'm all for men becoming better people and freeing their minds, having their own liberation movement. But then someone has to come along and specifically choose pride month for this, just making it look bad all over again. It's like men can't be happy unless it involves taking away someone else's happiness.

Woah that's actually quite the downvote brigade for Lemmy. Not too surprised at this point though, unfortunately. They've been more or less behaving themselves since you started this community but it definitely looked to me like others had also tried and failed before you came along.

And the only comment that I've had removed here on Lemmy so far (that I'm aware of at least) was talking about the horribly lopsided stats when it comes to men vs women supporting the Afd and the ideological divide in general. And that was within like my first week here lol. So this is the impression that I have of this place.

And sorry for the 3rd paragraph but on the note of others trying and failing, feels like this community is picking up more steam daily. So I don't see this one going anywhere. Definitely not without a fight.

Wikipedia link for anyone interested. Hope this fits the community. I think they're adorable.
