If I recall correctly, dwarves born in the fortress or arriving as babies remained roughly cat sized throughout their lives, as they didn't actually grow in size while growing up.

EU is at least trying to do something about that. As of last year stores are required to display the cheapest price they've had for an item in the past three months when they have something on sale. Not all stores comply, and of course they try to get around these by the usual shenanigans, like basically the same product being available from the manufacturer with two slightly different item codes.

Until recently, I had some butter on a butter plate with a lid, and would take it to room temperature in advance of wanting to use it. Not the best method, but better than only having fridge temperature butter. A few weeks ago I got a French butter dish after being introduced to the concept. You can keep a good dose of butter in room temperature, with water making it airtight so the butter stays fresh. So far very much liking it.
