that gives them too much credit

you are not people

[–] baines@lemmy.cafe 7 points 1 month ago

this is why the proper response in panel 3 is ‘no, fuck off’

so your solution to the reality of propaganda working is tell other people not to worry about it?

have fun up on your self righteous hill while the country is dismantled underneath you

People who say that tend to be incapable of taking the day off.

assuming you’re american, if not sadly it’s not all that better in many first world countries

republicans in the process of dismantling the entire federal government, all protections and safety nets, all science and education, heralding in a fascist take over

but sure it’s not important bro, go back to fucking about

if you want respectful engagement don’t start off being a little twat

as to what I personally want?

I don’t even disagree in principle, ai is here and it’s not going away

what should happen is strong worker unions and regulation preventing the race to the bottom

we’re not getting any of it but you can keep your mouth shut

this is the same stupid fucking argument people made about horse armor

may you get the future you are hoping for

[–] baines@lemmy.cafe 6 points 1 month ago

what nuance?

these are rich fucks shitting up another industry for profit at the cost of quality and talent

no one is mad a currently talented artists using ai to help create quality work (instead it is usually obvious slop) or people fucking around with ai personal use (instead fuckers try to pretend they ‘created’ something)

people are just tired of ai slop filling up the already dead internet with even more bot level trash

new technology is never used responsibly

business owners only care about minimizing costs and cornering control of new tech

history is full of examples

look at the industrial revolution, the tech will win but society isnt better in all ways

and this really isnt looking star treck so much as black mirror

[–] baines@lemmy.cafe 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

not even sure his links counter the prior posts argument

seems like business leader bullshit promoting shit work because minimum cost is all they care about

this, this is what I am dealing with, thank you for teaching him

in my case it is a massive legacy codebase that I don’t actually control

i get very sporadic deliveries of it and I’ve version controlled them into a jank progression

the original is in clearcase with now git on top of it and my version control is in svn

there are very shitty unresolvable reasons for all of this

but this last update was especially bad as one of their new coders is super fucking OCD and rejustifying headers and footers and fucking comments, so whitespace shit in files he is not editing code in otherwise, so that is like 300-500 files not lines

i want to break a knee cap

[–] baines@lemmy.cafe 39 points 1 month ago (13 children)

i have a recent diff where 300 changes are just things like moving whitespace

still fuck you for that mess
