I just finished Oryx and Crake the first of a trilogy by Margaret Atwood, I quite enjoyed it. It's a short of dystopian sci-fi. I was put off by her at first because I was forced to read her in high school but I'm glad I gave her another chance.

I'm starting Les Misérables in French in the hopes of improving my written French.

Also working my way through Weapons of the weak which is about forms of peasant resistance.

My hypothesis is they deputized a bunch of random who answered internet ads and offered them a fixed amount per person they bring in. They get paid the same, so why bother checking?

It's something he's started putting at the end of his tweets. I assumed it was dementia not a hidden message.

The word gets used so often as a pejorative it's weird to see it used accurately by that crowd.

So the vaccine is the government implanting a tracker into me, but watches that track my vitals and send them God knows where is hunky dory?

These anti government types always have such a hard time when they become the government.

Should it be on the Indigenous nations to validate the claims of any random person who claims ancestry? That's an unfair onus on them IMO, especially since they're usually not the ones operating whatever program depends on it.

Also, we have plenty of cases of people being separated from their families so maybe they can't directly claim a relationship to a particular modern group bit still suffered from residential schools. Putting it on the nation's would exclude them.

Right? The surprise would be if they weren't doing that.

Because they wouldn't get to that position if they were just plain stupid. But it's amazing what someone can fail to understand when their livelihood depends on it.

It's not stupidity. It's willful blindness.

No, it's not. It's a crown corporation and is expected to pay for itself. You could aruge it shouldn't be that way, but that's the state of things right now.

I've heard the same. Women are the majority of readers these days, so they're just chasing the market.
