let democracy, law and order do its job

As if the Entity currently committing Genocide isn't considered a democracy. Or the one which invaded Iraq under the lie of them having nuclear weapons isn't a democracy, and has resulted in hundreds of thousands of civilian deaths. or millions of death caused by colonialism of "European Domocracies" the biggest of which is the UK. I can go on and on about what democracies have committed around the world. you can still use it to pat yourselves on the back. but if you take a honest look you will see that democracies aren't inherently better than other forms when it comes to criminal and imperialist conduct.

They are tying their tongues in knots when the answer to South Africa's case is really simple. Israel "IS COMITTING GENOCIDE" and it should stop.

there are significant concerns from both sides on human right issues, war crime and individual conduct.

it is Like saying we have heard you but Israel needs to finish the job here. So here is a token for All of you Allies Of Israel, Let's All act concerned about Human rights violations and respecting international law so we can buy them more Time. and if any faction of your citizens criticize your inaction, you can refer to our decision as we are the sole jurors of international law.

They are very fierce at censoring their IP material, anything that lands on youtube that hasn't been altered to avoid copyright bot, gets taken down immediately. even shows that have aired the same day.

[-] erranto@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago

Yep, even when bing censors something, it gets censored by DDG aswell, DDG is just a fancy proxy.

Does it really matter. when a country Like South Africa puts a solid case before the ICJ with solid documented proof about all genocidal attacks on civilians. The ICJ and the international community prefers to look away. and instead tells Israel to be more careful "next time", as if what has been committed isn't already enough.

I have been following the DMA closely, and so far it has been a big disappointment, just as I expected.

The way the EU approaches this walled garden problem, is to try and offer ways for other competitors to tap into the user base of the bigger players instead of trying to allow all EU citizens to chat with any other EU citizen who uses META Products regardless of their host platform. meaning "us" people who wish to self host an xmpp or Matrix servers and chat with facebook friends, It won't be straight forward or entirely possible for us to do so. unless maybe by doing a KYC with META. and signing up very stringent service agreements.

Meta will be creating all sorts of hurdles the DMA laws will allow them to, to cripple interoperability, from making other plateform signing up to special permissions from Meta, to hiding interoperability settings and making them opt-in, and building a scary rhetoric why you shouldn't be allowing other people outside of META to get in contact with you. There are some valid concerns, but I suspect Meta will implement the most spiteful procedures they can get away with, then spin up a rhetoric about proving their users being massing against interoperability.

Copilot was trained on FOSS software, so maybe it's already too late.

Caspian report is crap opinions passing as geopolitical knowledge and analysis. I have watched a few of his vids. and the guy doesn't know what is really happening in other foreign countries, but it doesn't stop him from writing 30 mn long bullshit videos and impressing an audience that is just as uneducated about those subjects as him. i.e Any one who claims to know everything about every other country in the world is a FRAUD.

Disclaimer : I am a hobbyist programmer, I have not gone to Uni for that , so I might not know everything I am talking about.

My question is why don't open source programs include something like diagrams of the algorithms they employ ?? I Was looking for algorithms for a chat program with client-server architecture, I was hoping to find diagrams and descriptions of how algorithms work, so a to study them an adapt them to my needs. All I found were FOSS projects with no such documentation.

Considering that reading source code can take a long time, and sometimes interesting projects are written in a language the user isn't familiar with, I was wondering why such documentation style doesn't exist ? It could help even newer contributors get started quicker.

Is there a way set a filter to block posts with that keyword in the title or description ??

I had enough of posts about a certain personality living rent free in the minds of many, I am just fed up with that. if it isn't possible, I hope developers will work on this feature soon !

This has gone become unbearable especially when Youtube doesn't provide a language search filter. fishing for more clicks is ruining the user experience.

Youtube should do something about that.

Is it to lure men into paying for more private pictures or subscribe to their only fans ? Who's falling for this ?

I am referring to bot profiles with pictures of asses in thongs front and center, commenting with platitudes on high traffic video, especially news channels.

Recently I binge watched Abbot Elementary, and I couldn't get enough of it, watched the British version of ghosts and it was quite good too.

I have tried "what we do in the shadows" and it wasn't to my liking.

What are your suggestions about a light comedy series of the same genre ?

Hi I am looking for a **free ** game with simple mechanics, competitive and online is a plus. plus suggest games that don't require steam, I don't want to install that software

I used to play vanis.io but people spoiled it by playing in teams while I like playing solo, while other games of the genre (slither, agar, paper.io) couldn't stick with them

I played mindustry, and wasted tens of hours, until I found out That I was playing campaigns without having unlocked enough research to beat the master, the game didn't have the right mechanisms to orient me to the winnable campaigns, and I ended hating it for that.

I am a simple guy looking for a simple game to distress (not candy crush simple)

I was looking at buying a new android device with either android 12 or 13. and I wasn't ready to see how all phones shipping with these versions have forced sign-up using a mandatory phone number. the step cannot be skipped , and workarounds are very tedious and sometimes require a PC.

Where is the EU when you need them. how is it acceptable to force people to sign-up to your spying software when they want to acquire a smartphone?

Are there no laws in place to forbid this type of bundling between hardware and forced subscriptions ??

Are there any privacy non profit organization that can take them to court ?

Hi I found out that it is possible to create a thread on a lemmy community using a mastodon account by mentioning the community handle. but the process is quite undocumented and unknown to many of us.

How Can I make a thread with a separate title and post body from an app like tusky?

how to make the community @ mention not appear on the title ?

Are there any propagation problems to be aware of ?

sometimes the post doesn't show on the community feed, or takes too long to show, or shows from another instance quicker than the one I have posted in. the post might have the correct creation timestamp but fails to show up on the lemmy community promptly.
