You don’t get to use a lack of higher education as an excuse to be ignorant though. Not saying you do, but there are people that take the idea that just because there are stupid people who are highly qualified means that all ‘experts’ can be disregarded. Not true.

There are plenty of intelligent people at uni, just like there are plenty who never did higher education.

The things that both of those groups have in common though is that they are curious, intellectually honest and can be reasoned with when presented with evidence.

Caveat I don’t have kids.

Can’t kids just miss a meal if they don’t want to eat it? Not like a kid is going to die from one missed meal.

Hmmm everything is political?

No. Everything is anime.

It’s privilege.

When people don’t want to talk politics it’s because they have the luxury of not being affected every moment of their lives about said politics.

I.e. easy to switch off the ‘trans people should die’ rhetoric when you’re a cis gendered middle aged white man in a western country.

Wealthy people’s experience of university is very different from someone who attends purely on merit.

University isn’t some great filter that distinguishes legitimately intelligent people more often than not it’s just a tool to separate social classes based on arbitrary expertise requirements.

And a thousand free speech absolutists cried out ‘but now the Nazis won’t be publicly known!!!’

Nothing good has ever come from public gatherings of Nazis.

Arguably Revolution would be closer with Trump in office…

Not much of an argument to vote for trump but unfortunately probably true.

The only person that claims there was some kind of a relationship prior to the guy and girl meeting is the mother.

If there was any strong evidence to this story it would have been tested in court. The article specifically says that was not the case. Which means it’s basically heresay about his interest in her when she was 14.

This article just sensationalises that piece of information instead of focussing on the real crime which was a doctor giving his potentially addicted partner drugs.

According to the article ‘the Australian Federal Police (AFP) will allege that an analytics specialist from the AFP's Criminal Assets Confiscation Taskforce deciphered Mr Jung's cryptocurrency account's "seed phrase".’

The word ‘decipher’ is doing a lot of heavy lifting. I’m wondering if they socially engineered or just found it written somewhere in the house?

Anyway, curious as to how they did it.

On the other place I constantly saw memes of shows that I thought ‘well if they’re that popular they must be pretty good’

Shows like:

Avatar, The Office, Parks and Rec and IT Crowd

I’ve watched them and I just don’t get it. They aren’t so amazing that they are worth that level of adoration IMO. Avatar has its good spots and Parks and Rec is pretty enjoyable but I cringe at American office and IT crowd is forgettable.

However a show I actually really like, Community, only started getting the same type of treatment after the pandemic because people watched it on Netflix. Although it’s still not as popular as these others. Are people just really basic or am I out of touch?

Anyway, what show did you watch and think ‘I don’t get what the fuss is about’? Maybe it was Community?
