Yes, that's right, your own government and it's monopoly on violence where you live would never kill it's own citizens on the reg, but do consider all the myriad deaths caused by foreign powers on our own soil, I'm of course thinking of the PRC's assassinations of my mom and 3 coworkers after I willingly leaked my state of residence and other publicly available info.

Anytime some dumbass starts saying that China is a threat I tell them about the time China tear gassed my neighborhood and beat a bunch of my friends for being outside after curfew.

I always like to end that story by saying that after we ran home, we saw some other folks ..total strangers to us... running from the cops too and brought them inside for some iced tea and snacks so they could wait the cops out.
They brought us a huge baggie of really nice weed the following day.

In my city a few years ago white supremacists marched through the streets without a permit. Then an hour later we had a permitted protest for black rights and an end to police brutality. A comrade of mine stepped off the sidewalk with one foot. The cops beat her so badly she was hospitalized for a week.
This was in the Tampa Bay area, not some backwoods town in Mississippi.
