Both sides seek more preparation time for the highly publicized murder trial

The 26-year-old accused of fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City last month will likely not return to a federal courtroom until mid-February.

The indictment date was initially scheduled for Jan. 18, but after both parties agreed in a letter to the court, it was changed to Feb. 17. Before his federal indictment, Luigi Mangione was handed a criminal complaint detailing the charges against him.

On Wednesday, the prosecution and defense in the criminal case agreed to postpone court proceedings to give each party more time to prepare before trial. According to The Associated Press, prosecutors have said both cases will work on a “parallel track,” with the state trial predicted to begin first.

On Dec. 23, 2024, in a New York courtroom, Mangione entered a plea of not guilty to multiple state charges, including murder as an act of terrorism. Additionally, he faces federal charges brought by the U.S. Justice Department, including stalking and using a firearm to commit murder, with the death penalty as a potential outcome.

Robert Paulson became a martyr - that's how he achieved a mythic status.

Luigi lived, and his relevance had increased because of that. If he'd died in a hail of bullets, the whole CEO killin and healthcare thing would have disappeared. His court case is (probably) going to keep bringing the injustice of US healthcare into the media.

The media immediately went silent on Luigi once the bigwigs realized everyone they talked to supported Luigi.

CNN worships Trump, they value ratings over everything.

Except when those ratings are for acting in self defense against mass murderers.

His trial will not be covered on TV, except to briefly announce the charges being thrown at him.

Just another day behind the Great Wall of America.

The next court date has been set for February 21.

As much as I'd like to believe it's a conspiracy, news organizations make money from clicks. There isn't much for them to monetize between now and February 21, so they're focusing on more immediate stuff.

If they can get good photos and text from the next court date, Luigi will get more coverage.

Edit: there have been like five plane crashes, one US inauguration, and major US wildfires since his last court date.
