Chat is a text only community for casual conversation, please keep shitposting to the absolute minimum. This is intended to be a separate space from c/chapotraphouse or the daily megathread. Chat does this by being a long-form community where topics will remain from day to day unlike the megathread, and it is distinct from c/chapotraphouse in that we ask you to engage in this community in a genuine way. Please keep shitposting, bits, and irony to a minimum.

As with all communities posts need to abide by the code of conduct, additionally moderators will remove any posts or comments deemed to be inappropriate.

I have some free time coming up and I’d like to get into star trek but I have no idea where to start there’s too many series and movies. Anyone got a good guide for all this please?

any pre-streaming TV show was written and produced with the idea that you could start watching it at any moment during any episode and it should make enough sense to follow. plus there were commercials interrupting all the time. Admittedly, DS9 was a bit "ahead of its time" with some long story arcs. But each episode does have a plot you can understand without any backstory.

You can follow any advice, jump around, start at the beginning, read summaries and see what appeals to you, roll a dice.. whatever. If you watch 5 eps and hate it, then its not for you.

I really don't know if I'd like it all if I started as an adult. There are so many Big Problems.
