How the everloving fuck does she know what God wants?

[–] tal@lemmy.today 8 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (3 children)

It's from a passage in the Bible.

Ephesians 5:22-24:

Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.  For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.  Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

That was written by a human, not God.

[–] tal@lemmy.today 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Ah, yes, but a divinely-inspired human, no doubt, acting on God's will to relay His message.

https://biblehub.com/topical/t/the_power_of_divine_inspiration.htm

Divine inspiration is a foundational concept in Christian theology, referring to the process by which God imparts His wisdom and guidance to humanity. This inspiration is most notably associated with the authorship of the Bible, where human writers were moved by the Holy Spirit to convey God's truth. The power of divine inspiration is evident in the transformative impact of Scripture, its enduring relevance, and its ability to guide believers in faith and practice.

Like I said, written by a human. The rest, like the entire Bible, or even religion itself, is also a human construct.

At least it’s not Proverbs 5:19.

Even the ancient Levant had its furries!

I think that comparing breasts to deer was probably something of a poetic convention then. I believe that there's something in Solomon along the same lines.

goes to investigate

Yeah.

Song of Songs 4:5:

Your breasts are like two fawns,
like twin fawns of a gazelle
that browse among the lilies.

Song of Songs 7:3:

Your breasts are like two fawns,
like twin fawns of a gazelle.
