This reminds me of a friend who took their parent to Portugal and the parent kept asking for Shrimp Skampi at restaurants. To the point of trying to explain how to make it to the waiters. She was annoyed that they didn’t know how to make it. Also that their shrimp had shells. Like what’s the point of traveling?

Only a handful of Italians lived in Gubba and Afodo. The colonial presence was overwhelmingly represented by Ethiopians and Eritreans. They would have been very glad to keep on with their customary eating and drinking habits. Yet they were provided with European foods and drinks at an enormous cost.

And I'm sure they also complain bitterly when their favorite swill beer and bottom shelf gin isn't available.

Yea it seems like Benidorm's economy is pretty much based on cheap package deals. The kids play in the pool all day whilst mum and dad get hammered nearby and nobody leaves the hotel until the flight home.
