Exercise. People often forget (or aren't even aware) that output isn't the only factor in getting in shape, that walking is better for you than running, that the body just wasn't made by the forces at play for a lot of continuous rigorous activity (think the paleo diet logic but for exercise; in fact, if anything, the logic is applicable TO exercise), that gyms cost thousands of euro/dollars, and that many people just don't have time for it.
The icing on the cake is when you have no friends and someone says "the gym is a great place to meet friends", unaware that the problem is you're not good at holding a conversation and that that part about gyms being better for making friends is not even true. It's like, I don't know, gyms are trying to cash in on peoples' random life problems.
Last time I was in the US about a year ago, a Gold’s membership was like $25 a month for the basic tier (which still gets you full entry, you’re just restricted to a single location). Idk where you’re looking but most gyms are pretty affordable unless you’re getting scammed into hiring a personal trainer
But you have to climb Kilimanjaro and send a fax from there to the unlisted head office with a 500 character key they can't tell you, then cure cancer to cancel your membership.
God damn if im paying $25 a month for a gym they better be moving the weights for me
Not a bad deal considering the equipment provided. I’d love a home gym but just a power rack, a bench, a bar, and weights would be well over $1500 used. That’s not even including cardio equipment, a pulley system, or dumbbells which you’ll find in any reputable gym
