We're just posting anti-union propaganda on the fediverse now?

Are y'all at least getting paid for it? fedposting

How many times does satire and irony posting have to backfire on us before we realize that shit only works if the person is smart enough to be in on the joke; otherwise we're just propagandizing against ourselves.

posting isn't praxis and i think it's self-important to think anything we say on the Frediverse has any real world impact

It is "free speech" brain worms to think that the things you say don't in some ways impact the world around you. Speech is a material action. The things that you say have an impact on the people around you.

I don't believe in free speech. I don't think it exists or should exist. Is posting praxis? No. It's still bad to have anti-union comm even as a joke. I've seen way too many internet communities start out as ironic and then become unironic. Also I have zero trust in Melina.

we have an incredibly tightly-moderated community. i don't think melina is gonna turn this place into 4chan by saying a union killed their family. the fakenews and anti-union joke comms were made basically as containment comms for one user who you admittedly do not, and have not liked for a while and there are built-in tools for you not to see posts from people you don't like

why do we need containment comms for liberals or reactionaries? that's what the ban-hammer is for.

[–] regularassbitch@hexbear.net 4 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

i don't think we need them, they're just useful for situations like this where people take melinaposts entirely too seriously. also, i guarantee banning doesn't work as well as you think it does

[–] AssortedBiscuits@hexbear.net 18 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It's not much of a "containment" if the containment comms are growing in number.

[–] regularassbitch@hexbear.net 6 points 11 months ago

it went from 1 to 2. i don't think it's gonna become an epidemic

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 12 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Maybe not your posting, my posting is 10000-com

[–] regularassbitch@hexbear.net 5 points 11 months ago (2 children)

all of our posts are doo doo and we're all shitting in a communal bucket. it's fine if you don't like the corn melina provides to the mixture, just pick it out by blocking the comm

[–] LaughingLion@hexbear.net 20 points 11 months ago (1 children)

this is lazy and could be used to excuse straight fash bullshit infiltrating our site do fucking better jfc

[–] regularassbitch@hexbear.net 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

yeah but it's not straight fash bullshit. it's a poster who has been here for years who got a containment comm so you don't have to see what they post. the mods did you a favor and you're still crying about it

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 21 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Melina's account is 7 months old. If they need 2 containment comms, maybe there's an issue needing addressed.

[–] regularassbitch@hexbear.net 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

i don't really think there was an issue with the comms until you created one

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 13 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Maybe I should get a containment comm too then.

[–] regularassbitch@hexbear.net 5 points 11 months ago

let me know how that goes for you
